Aug 2,3 NASHVILLE / Belcourt Theatre (これはここ数年恒例になっている「公開リハーサル」みたいな位置づけでしょうね。)
Aug 6,7,8 CHICAGO / Park West Aug 11,12 PHILADELPHIA / Keswick Theater Aug 14,15,16,17 NEW YORK / Nokia Theater (ニューヨーク公演は、会場のNokia Theaterのサイトにて17日の分が追加されていると、Krimson Newsで報じられました。)
This is also the venue where, according to our current plans for King Crimson’s return to active-service in 2008, preparatory to the 40th. Anniversary Celebration of 2009, The Beast Of Crim will be playing a 4-night residency in August 2008 with KC’s third double-drumming formation.
No big event is planned. Or to put this slightly differently, that KC is planning to work live is already as large an event as I can handle. Nor is extensive touring, after the conventional model, likely.
I mentioned that KC are planning some live work in celebration of the 40th. anniversary. Pal mentioned a friend of his in Spain, a KC fan in the early 1970s. I explained that KC will only be playing in the US; and part of the difficulty coming to Europe is that KC continues to be perceived as an early 1970s band.
David has time-coded & put together all live members of King Crimson on a live version of Schizoid Man; all, that is, except Gavin & Jamie. Gavin is to be sent the track to record a contribution, and some Jamie-percussion will be flown on – and then The Crimson All Stars, aka The Schizoid Men, will make their debut on the KC Tourbox,
The Tourbox is progressing well. Alex is checking hot tickles for possible inclusion. The Vicar is visiting DGM SoundWorld I, mixing Form No. 2 from KC7’s recording at Studio Belew in 2004…
The aim of the upcoming live Crimson work, from the English guitarist’s stool, is to celebrate the 40th. anniversary of King Crimson. This small outing is a celebration! Hooray!
the role of KC’s upcoming audients & audiences at our performances is the single most decisive factor in the possibility of any further celebrating. For example, if the party is extensively recorded, filmed & pinned to the earth on cellphones, cameras, viddying machines & other widely-available assists to ill-considered actions, these may be interpreted as audients declining to appropriately engage with goodwill & courtesy in our celebrating; and a reason to abandon the party there.

Other arising news: while I was in Spain & offline, an e-mail came in from Adrian Belewbeloid, and David has been informed by Artist Advocate Andy Leff that Adrian has solo dates arising during the mid-April to mid-May period planned for a continuation of Crimson Celebrating the 40th. Anniversary. The intention was to visit the West Coast. This now looks unlikely.
i let go of Crimson plans & re-directed my attention elsewhere. i was up for the Celebration, there was a momentum, there was a hold in my calendar; then it changed. there we are. that's what it is…
so, once again, a major re-direct of attention, more torments & twisting such as i know well from the Crimson life. following further reflection & consideration of the on-off-on nature of Crimsoning next Spring. having let go of this & moved on, i recognise & acknowledge that i've moved on.
When Ade’s e-mail notified us that he had dates in the KC target period of mid-April > mid-May, clearly this meant he wasn’t available. So I let go of the Celebration. I dropped it. Attention elsewhere, the Crimson Celebration wheel stopped turning for me. That the time period is now available again is irrelevant: this is not a question of dates in a calendar, this is a question of the availability of attention, intentionality, focus, commitment, a willing-ness. Rather than this being fun, it’s back to the Crimson life I know too well: life, attention & concerns being buffeted by circumstance, of not knowing whether a planned-undertaking will take place. From my e-mail to the Crims…
i don't know what happened to ade's proposed dates, but when I received the e-mail info i accepted it at face value, let go of the Crimsonising plans & moved on. my attention is elsewhere, my plans are elsewhere, and regrettably, now i'm not available. the moment of opportunity has passed.
The good news: the future is now more available to be written than a week or so ago.
On the cancelled Crimson Celebrating, to Martha Belewbeloid…
i've let go of this, the wheel has turned & i can't get back into it. perhaps for ade & tony & pat & gavin, all good constant players, Crimson is another version of what they do everyday. it's not like that at all for me. i have to be psyched, or in the Crimson story, f...ing p-syched. to get into a Crimson mindset is a huge undertaking for me, difficult to explain to anyone, including Toyah. it's like, everything else stops for the period. even to get ready for april-may, my focus remains engaged. so, i hadn't switched off from last august. then, for all the reasons we know below, i switched off & a different set of life-parameters come into play. not sure what the future holds, and that works well for me. but, the switch is off.
i'd love to come & visit the Basement again, and ade & your goodself are invited to visit bredonborough - once the new roof is on & the builders have moved out!
the mighty krimson was supposed to perform on the west coast in 2009.
that was where we left things following our last night in new york city.
just before leaving for the power trios marvelous tour of 8 countries in europe
I received an email from krimson's strategic advisor mr. andy leff.
andy asked everyone for their schedules for may.
at the time I believed the power trio was booked in may,
which turned out not to be true (not yet)
and I said so in my reply to the members of the mighty krim.
somehow this was offensive and the whole tour
was called off because of my remarks.
for that I am deeply sorry.
I did not mean to offend anyone.
this morning I penned an email to robert with my apology
and my thoughts about the great adventure we've had thus far.
in so many words I told him I loved him and was very proud
of the work we have done together.
more importantly perhaps I said this,
"any time, any place you would like King Crimson to perform:
count me in. I will be there."
and there it stands.
doesn't mean krimson will tour again
but I certainly hope so.
