NIH-Wide Recruitment for PIs

Get your cvs and research plans ready! The NIH Intramural Research Program will soon launch a first of its kind NIH-wide recruitment for Principal Investigators.

This represents an unprecedented cooperation between all NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) with intramural programs to recruit the best available biomedical researchers (laboratory-, clinic- or population-based). Formal advertisement will begin later in September with a closing date in November. We hope to attract a diverse group of highly qualified applicants, many of whom might not apply to ads focused on a particular area. This is an opportunity for job seekers to give us their best shot, rather than tailoring their research proposals to match an ad. Applications will be distributed to committees of NIH experts in various research areas. The top applications will be forwarded to the IC Scientific Directors and Chairs of standing search committees. The process is expected to culminate in a seminar series early next year, featuring the finalists. We expect to hire approximately 10 PIs, most of whom would be tenure-track.
