from the abbot of the 1400 year old Buddhist temple Zenkouji.
The temple is a symbol of the Nagano city and was going to be used as a starting point for Japan's leg of the torch relay until they declined the use for the purpose after the public outcry and some monks objected decision due to the China's oppression for Tibet.
“ I believe you have been living with such a hardship.
I am overwhelmed by the pure hearts of yours here today.
I know, that it is very hard to be that way.
When people has experienced such a hardship, the feelings like hatred and anger changes your hearts,
which makes your hearts to be impure and eventually effects your faces and your hopes even.
But, I can see you are not let that happened to you.
You have managed maintain your pure hearts , still posses a kind hearts and keep tying hard.
That makes you even more honourable and even more respectful.
I know that we , Japanese people have been inspired so much through your presence in this event.
