　「アモーレス・ペロス」で衝撃の世界デビューを果たし、「２１グラム」で命の重さを実感させた、鬼才アレハンドロ・ゴンザレス・イニャリトゥ監督。彼が次にモチーフとして選ぶのは、人間の愚かさの象徴である「バベルの塔」。
　舞台となるのはアメリカ、メキシコ、モロッコ、そして日本。世界４ヶ国で偶発的に起こる事件が、密接に絡み合いながら一つの未来に向かって加速する、壮大なスケールで描かれるヒューマン・ドラマである。
　脚本にはイニャリトゥの長年の相棒であり、「Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada」で本年度カンヌ映画祭脚本賞を受賞したギジェルモ・アリアガ。そしてブラッド・ピットを始め、「彼の映画なら！」と集まった豪華キャスト陣に、一切の妥協は無い。人類はいつまでバベルの塔を作り続けていくのか。バラバラにされた言葉たちが、再び一つになる時は来るのか。その答えはイニャリトゥが知っている。

Synopsis:
Described as a film with themes of "love and how we deal with it as human beings, while on a microscopic level looking at the complex relationship of fathers and sons", this is about interconnected stories in three different continents and four different languages over a 36-hour time period in Morocco, Tunisia, Mexico and Japan. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett play American tourists and non-actors playing a local shepherd family who awaken their social and political conscience. The Mexico story, close to the US border, revolves around two characters played Gael Garcia Bernal and Adriana Barraza. The third story will take place in Japan and centres on a deaf girl.
