Janus Magazine, by Jan Fabre, is about art, artists, culture, dance, philosophy, science, crossover, consilience, crosses boundaries, transdisciplinary, interview, essay, Belgium, international
Janus is an English-language magazine with translations in Dutch or French, that explores the zone between art, culture, philosophy and science. Janus opts for crossover and 'consilience', for what crosses boundaries and is transdisciplinary. For each interview (single or double), essay or extract from a work, particular attention is paid to design and images, with at least one portfolio. Janus is Belgian in origin, but international in intention. It is an initiative by the artist Jan Fabre.
Janus, after the ancient god : he looks to the left, to the right, upwards, downwards, to the past and towards the future. He speaks with 2 voices and forces thoughts to collide.
Janus is ... multidisciplinary
Janus seeks out that which crosses borders and the multidisciplinary. The magazine forms a link between the visual arts, theatre, dance, film, literature, photography, music, architecture, philosophy and science. Its goal in doing this is to do away with artificial divisions and create crossover links.
These "mental leaps" engender unprecedented connections and evoke a surprising discourse.
