Kamal Arafa
Born in Manchester, 1981, Kamal Arafa's music is
best described as good-humoured modern acoustic
Folk. So far Kamal has written and recorded four
albums
"Debauchery" (2002)
"Head in the clouds" (2003)
"Cacophonic" (2003)
"The things you live for kill you the quickest" (2005).
Although these albums were not intended for the
mass consumer market; copies were eagerly sought
after and circulated in a large artistic and
social network.

Success came early when Kamal fronted his first
band 'The Northern Lights.' They beat 250 bands
to win 'Band of the Land' 1998 in Manchester.
The band played a further three sell-out concerts
and then disbanded to begin their university
education. Kamal moved to Glasgow where he
studied Contemporary Theatre at the RSAMD. During
this time he wrote and recorded all of his
albums. Although Kamal never re-formed the band;
his new found love of solo performance encouraged
him to play acoustic sets in and around Glasgow.

Now, his music has developed into a more honest,
more intelligent, more coherent sound. Kamal's
heartwarming, funny and often bizarre tales
envelope your soul. He possesses worldliness
beyond his years, an insuppressible talent that
is just screaming to be heard. With a well
crafted live performance, Kamal Arafa is
musically brilliant, naturally gifted and not
just another singer / songwriter.
