■ニューヨークのブロンクスで生まれたジョン･サンタリーンロスは著名な陶芸家であるが、表現の領域をひろげるために雑誌や新聞の切り抜きでコラージュを始め、その後、暗くエロティックな写真作品を制作するにいたったという。

「われわれはみな幼年時代の囚人である」というジョン･サンタリーンロスの残酷でエロティックな異教的悪夢を具現化する試みは、単なるフェティッシュ･フォトとは言い切れない苛烈なオブセッションを含んだ魅力を醸し出している。

■John Santerineross is an American photographer with a background in ceramics and painting. He is concidered to be "the world's leading neo-symbolist photographer of our time" by media, fans and fellow artists. His unique style and content have inspired an entire new generation of image-makers.

Born in the Bronx, he now works in Kearny, New Jersey.

He has two books of his photography, Fruit of the Secret God, which introduced his powerful images to the world in 1999, and Dream (2004). This commanding new book is considered by many to be the definitive example of contemporary neo symbolist photography.
