To all interested Santa Maria graduates, their family, former teachers and staff

Dear Santa Marians,

As the current principal of Santa Maria School in Nerima, I warmly invite you to come join the Homecoming Day on May 16th (Sat) this year. I invite you on behalf of the other School Sisters (Sister Carmen and Sister Rafaela), current students, teachers and staff.

There is a project team working on this event, and the core members are current and former parents. I have requested this project team (Ms. Ishida, Ms. Bhavaraju, Ms. Daryanani, Ms. Kambara, Ms. Kosins, Ms. Mettam and Ms. Soda) for Homecoming to keep in mind the key objective, which is ”Let’s make the guests glad that they came.” I hope we are successful, but this can only be possible if those of you, who still think fondly of our school, come and join us, or at least contact us and let us know how you are.

I will of course be there to welcome you on Homecoming day. However, until then, since I am quite busy and tied up attending to current school matters, I have given the project team authority to carry on with all practical matters concerning the 50th anniversary celebrations.

We eagerly look forward to meeting or hearing from you, and truly hope that this may be the beginning of a renewed and re-strengthened sense of being part of the Santa Maria family.

I have also received a call from Sophie Ishida (the chairperson for the Homecoming) inviting you all to the event and asking your help in every way possible to help the school--buying the Anniversary T-shirts and other merchandise. This may have been mentioned before, but Sister Mary Anne, though she was a grade school teacher we knew as Miss Nomura when SMY had a high school department, remembers nearly every one of us (or so she says). I have only vague recollection of her, but she remembered me very clearly and recounted episodes about me!! Meeting her is a great pleasure, and the Nerima School reminded me so much of the old Yokohama School.

With the older sister school in Yokohama long gone, I sincerely hope that the alumni here reach to others to relay the information and look forward to your contribution to our sister school in whatever way possible.

FYI, I will definitely be at the Homecoming in May.
