Device Art: A New Application Field of Japanese "Playful" Technology
By Machiko Kusahara , Ph. D, Professor, School of Letters, Arts and Sciences, Waseda University
@@@@@ Virtual Reality for Entertainment Friday 28 April – 10h -12h – SALLE A Simultaneous translation French-English
[Table Ronde] Cultural difference of VR researcher and artists between Japan and France.
Techniques of entertainment can affect to human pleasure directly. However this topic will include some cultural, educational and language differences. Recently, in Japan, new media arts activities like "Device Art" are expanding to technology researches. Finding a boundary between science, arts, technology and design, it sounds important but it will not be the aim.
In this table ronde (panel discussion), the speakers who have worldwide activities of research and/or artworks will show a short presentation with video in the beginning. After the showing, they will discuss about cultural difference with case studies all around the worlds.
Speaker Candidates Prof. Machiko KUSAHARA (Waseda Univ Japan, media art and theory ) Prof. Kazunori MIYATA (JAIST, Computer graphics and Interactive ) Mrs. Kumiko Kushiyama (Computer Graphics Artist ) Prof. Cédric Plessiet (Paris 8 ATI, teacher of media art course ) Dr. Akihiko SHIRAI (ENSAM Presence & Innovation Lab., Entertainment VR )
