Subject: UWS alumni gathering in Tokyo in December Date: Mon, 16 Nov 2009 13:16:56 -0600 From: MMACLEAN@uwsuper.edu
Hello Japanese UW-Superior Alumni - greetings from Superior! I hope this message finds you healthy and well. For those who don’t know me, I am the international admissions coordinator at UW-Superior, and I have worked at UW-Superior since 2004. I’m writing because I will be visiting Japan next month and I hope that it will be possible to have a gathering of former UWS students while I’m there. Here is some information about my trip:
VISIT DATES: November 30 – December 5
LOCATION: Tokyo (I will be staying in Minato-ku and unfortunately it won’t be possible for me to travel outside of Tokyo given my schedule.)
PURPOSE: I will participate in the ALPHE agent workshop (Dec 2-4) in order to meet with prospective partners. UW-Superior currently has six students from Japan and we would like to see that increase in the coming years. We hope to partner with several Japanese study abroad agencies/consultants.
ALUMNI GATHERING: I hope it will be possible for UWS alumni in or near Tokyo to get together while I’m in Tokyo for refreshments. I spoke with Yuma Yamaguchi (UWS 2009) last week, and he said he would be willing to help with the organization of the gathering.
POSSIBLE NIGHTS FOR ALUMNI GATHERING: I’m available on the nights of December 1 (Tuesday) or December 4 (Friday).
INVITEES: Anyone with connections to UW-Superior (all former undergraduate, graduate and ESL students). Unfortunately, we do not have updated email address for all former UWS students from Japan, so if you know of anyone who might be interested in joining us, please pass along this information and/or send me their name and email address so I can contact them.
REQUEST #1: Please let me know if you are interested and able to get together during my visit, and if so, which night(s) will work best for you. If you are not able to come, I am still interested to hear from you to know how and what you’re doing these days.
REQUEST #2: Please forward this message to anyone you think might be interested in joining our gathering. Note that we have a list of students from Japan who have earned their degrees from UWS in the past ten years. However, we do not have current email addresses for the following people, so any help in contacting them will be appreciated!
NEXT STEP: In a few days, I will follow up with the people who have responded to this message. Then I’ll communicate with Yuma so we can begin making a more specific plan for the gathering.
I look forward to hearing from you and – hopefully! – seeing many of you in December.
