For years, the residents of the Japanese island of Okinawa have been calling for the United States to remove a number of sprawling military bases from their land.
The locals blame US marines for sex attacks, accidents and assaults on the island. Just last week, protests over the bases drew up to 90,000 people onto the streets, demanding that the bases be closed.
America says political relations with the Japanese are improving and that talks are under way to determine the future of the bases.
The sticking point is exactly where the US presence should be located and it seems no solution will please everyone.
