Hi, I am a graduate of Santa Maria in the late 60's, and my daughter is a fifth grader there now and enjoying it very much, joining modern dance club and Girl Scouts.
Santa Maria School in Nerima was founded in 1959, so that 2009 will be its 50th Annivervary. The school is planning to organize a 50th anniversary Homecoming in May 2009. If you are interested, keep tuned in!
Sister Mary Ann is the principal, as she has been for quite a number of years now. Sister Rafaela teaches religion, and together with Sister Carmen Medina, tends to the school office. Mrs. Graczyk still teaches the first grade, and Mrs. Odaira still keeps the Girl Scouts going. They have stayed with Santa Maria School (in Nerima and also Sancta Maria Yokohoma) for nearly 50 years! Sister Carmen was my fifth grade homeroom teacher, and Sister Mary Ann was my younger sister's third grade homeroom teacher.
Field Day is coming up this weekend, Sunday 27th. There is a couple of program for graduates, including the relay race, so please come and join us if you are free. The day starts at 9am with the marching band, and continues till about 1pm. Pray for good weather!!
