Sorry to write this in English... (I'll try to get it translated.)
This month our website has received a record number of hits. Even more than when we were in Jazzlife or on NHK. It is bittersweet news of course, but there are lessons to be learned. For 2 years 90% of Eddie's Lounge's customers came from the web (thanks especially to Mr. Homma's skillful web promotion skills and techniques.) We should all study the method he used and emulate it.
MUSICIAN SURVIVAL 101: A Crash Course
Some lessons learned : 1. Keeping homepages and blogs are very important (!)
Of course, I know that many musicians are just HAPPY to have a place to play, so promotion is not a top priority, but remember : If the band does not bring customers to the club, the club can't pay its bills. Venues (as well as musicians like me) need money to survive. Further, playing in front of many customers is an experience that can help improve your playing... and also expand your musical network. This means that you will have many more chance to play. For this reason, I would like to encourage all members of Eddie's Lounge Music Circle (and all musicians) in general to start keeping blogs, making homepages, linking with friends, and if you can, please submit your sessions to websites that list events. It is my goal for our network to grow and grow opening up many more venues for us to play !
2. Networking goes beyond the net ! It is very important to make and exchange meishi. Of course, this is a strong Japanese custom, but there are many young Japanese who don't have their own meishi. NG ! ! ! ¥3000 can open a lifetime of opportunities !
3. After making contacts it is important to keep them.
One strategy you can use is to take pictures of the customers and musicians at your sessions and send them them to your friends. This method was used very effectively to promote the Friday Session over a period of 2 years !
My goal is for the Eddie's Lounge Music Circle to become one of the largest and strongest circle of musicians in the entire Kanto area (if not all of Japan) and I think we can do it. So let's work hard and spread the groove !

P.S. Blogs are very easy to create. My Japanese is week, yet as an experiment, I was able to create a YAPLOG (www.yaplog.jp) account in less than 15 minutes ! ! !
