教育日誌コミュのEnglish Writing Class & Teamwork Part 2

We have just a couple of weeks to complete the summer semester.

Tennen-kun and Hipa-kun have been working on their English class as a team. It's been very successful, and many people have been acknowledging about many things from them. 1) since Tennen-kun grew up with a youngest child, he has been very dependable to others. Tennen-kun has always relied on others and never initiate and/or making an important decision by himself. He was so used to other people help him with everything. However, since he has been working with Hipa-kun, Tennen-kun has been gradually taking his life seriously and initiating many responsibilities. He recently has not asked for help immediately and willing to try out himself. His tutor came to my office and told me, "Tennen-kun has been lately trying to initiate his homework preparation and even helping his peer who is struggling with her homework. Tennen-kun has been coming to the Support Center every morning to work on his homework by himself without me." 2) I also acknowledged that Haipa-kun has similar changes. Haipa-kun has been very motivated about completing his homework and trying to help Tennen-kun during they are both meeting. Haipa-kun has been taking two classes and used to take as much time as he has to completing his homework. Haipa-kun was always struggling with his time management. However, since Haipa-kun started working with Tennen-kun, he set a time to complete his homework during the meeting. Haipa-kun is also receiving a good grade, that helps his confidence. Although he used to feel fear about taking liberal art classes, he is now feeling good and much motivated about the class. Haipa-kun even spends a time with me for our appointment wisely and more efficiently. During our one hour meeting, Haipa-kun reviews current class performance, asks any questions or concerns, and prepares the homework with Tennen-kun before he meets him. The preparation can be to find a reading assignment from the module, what are the questions they have to answer, and review key words for the reading assignment. It is very simple preparation but helps ASD students organize what they need to do.

Tennen-kun and Haipa-kun also became better communicators. They both tried to consider if they understand each other what they are doing. They both have been learning to check in each other and ask nicely if the partner agree with an idea. Most of all, they learned to help each other and work as a team.
