I thought I would make a topic to talk about Anime Expo. Describe what it is, what events there are, talk with people who are going and to eventually post pictures from the event. I will try to keep this post updated with new updates on events and guests.
Anime Expo is currently North America’s largest anime convention boasting and attendance about 40,000 people. It is a convention to promote anime and comics and a place for fans to gather.
There are many things to do at Anime Expo.
First the exhibit hall, the exhibit hall is where are the merchandise is. Lots of domestic stuff as here well as Japanese imports. There are also a few company booths that usually have free stuff.
Second there are panels. Panels are where new things anime licensing is introduced and where companies can promote their stuff. There are also guest panels where guest talk about their involvement in anime works.
As for events… there are few main events. Masquerade, AMV, AX Idols and concerts.
Masquerade is an event where cosplayers do little skits. This is probably one of the most popular events at AX and very hard to get into because of the limited space.
Concerts. This year there is going to be a lot of concerts. Usually it was about one concert per convention if you were lucky but it seems like they went all out with musical guests this year.
Lots of musical guests this year. Is anyone interested in any of the guests?

I don't have a interest in specific artist above, but it's amazing such a number of J-artists meet together in LA. I hope it will be a step that J-artists jump outside Japan.

I am not too interested in S.K.I.N. either but I am thinking about going just for the sake of going. Don't know how crowded it will be though.
J-Artists have been performing quite often in the US recently, at least in the LA area. My friends often talk about "Dir en Grey" and "Yoshiki", though the name "Gackt" has been popping up alot recently.
Here are the daily schedule for anime expo.

As you can see, there are alot of events and screenings that conflict with each other. It's hard to decide which event to attend, and usually you have to show up earlier just to line up.
The good thing is that if you are unable to get into a concert or panel, there are plenty of other things you can do.
Very Cool.
Death Note
