Do you remember that my hostmom has two dogs and one of them stinks very much. I couldn't tolerate the dog walks in the house
I asked her like " do you want me to wash him? She said " if you want to..........." She said that again. Back to last time when I asked her if she needs my help to build an IKEA rack, she answered like that. I totally forgot she is American not Columbian any more.
In fact hispanics in general have similar nature with Japanese people. They show nice appreciation to the person who helped them. I guess my hostmom assimilated into this country a looooong time ago.
She reminded me what my professor in class said. My professor said that first immigrant generation cannot own houses cuz they have to learn English, work hard at low wages and assimilate into American society.
Definitely yes. My host mom is the second generation. She came to America when she was five. She compeletely assimilated. That's why she owns a house in a kinda good place.
I learned one thing here. When I am asked to go out with a hot girl, I would say " if you want to....". She will like me for sure
Assimilation is an important theme for foreigners.
