Recording Sessions for the Next Album Started!

Hi,
Past friday I managed (at last) to get my poor piano tuned, so that Saturday, the first recording sessions for the incoming Bosques de mi Mente’s album’s , “Innocence”, started. The album will have 20 songs approximately, and is going to be a conceptual record, both thematicaly and musically. My initial idea is to have it ready by the end of September to mid of October.

El viernes pasado por fin conseguí que me afinaran el piano, y ese sábado empezó la grabación de lo que será el cuarto disco de Bosques de mi Mente, “Inocencia”. El disco tendrá unos 20 temas aproximadamente, y será un disco que girará en torno a un concepto, tanto a nivel musical como temático. Mi idea es que para septiembre o como mucho octubre esté listo.

先週からアルバムのレコーディングを開始したそうです。
タイトルは“Innocence”で、曲数は20曲前後を想定してるみたいです。
コンセプトアルバムとなるようで、9月下旬から10月中旬までにはどんなものになるのわかるようです。多分。
楽しみです。

In “Ruido Blanco”, I asked the cloud for artists willing to collaborate with the graphic art. The response was awesome and finally I was very satisfied with the experience and the incredible work of Stephan that helped to define the essence of “Ruido Blanco”. Now I would like to repeat the experience for “Innocence”. Hola,
En “Ruido Blanco”, busqué en la red artistas que quisieran colaborar con el arte gráfico. La respuesta fue impresionante y finalmente quedé muy satisfecho con la experiencia y con el increible buen hacer de Stephan que ayudó a definir la esencia de “Ruido Blanco”. Ahora me gustaría repetir la experiencia con “Inocencia”. En esta ocasión el arte gráfico tendrá mucho que ver con el concepto del album, de modo que si estás interesado en colaborar, por favor escríbeme un mensaje a bosquesdemimente(at)gmail(dot)com y hablaremos sobre ello.

Piano finally recorded... now for the arrangements...

All piano has been recorded… now I need to add some arrangements. In my three previous albums, all instruments were real and vintage, but for this album I thought on recording some software strings (because I cannot afford to rent a string quartet ;)) . My initial idea was to make “Innocence” a symphonic affair full of strings and such, but while recording the arrangements I realized that strings seem to be very unrealistic, specially compared with my real piano, which has a deep lofi quality. After thinking a lot about it, I have decided to fill “Innocence” with toy instruments where the orchestra would add some color, because that would also add to the concept of the album… let’s see what would result from this.
Any string quartet interested? please let me know :)

Todo el piano del nuevo abum ha sido grabado, ahora es el momento de añadir los arreglos. En mis tres albumes anteriores, todos los instrumentos eran auténticos y vintage, pero para este pense en introducir arreglos de cuerdas software (dada mi imposibilidad de contratar un cuarteto de cuerda ;)) . Mi idea inicial era hacer “Inocencia” un disco completamente sinfónico, pero mientras grababa los arreglos me di cuenta de que las cuerdas quedaban bastante irreales, en especial comparado con el piano, que tiene un profundo tono lofi. Tras pensar sobre ello, he decidido llenar “Inocencia” con instrumentos de juguete allí donde la orquesta añadiría el color sinfónico, ya que además eso aportará al concepto del album… veamos qué resulta de todo esto.
¿Algún cuarteto de cuerda interesado? no dudéis en decirmelo :)

ピアノのレコーディングが終わったようです。
ピアノの他にはソフトウェア音源のストリングスを入れるようです。
トイ楽器にストリングスとはどんな感じになるのでしょうか。


全く関係ありませんが、Port BlueとOwl Cityが同じ人物によるプロジェクトだということを最近知って少し驚きました。

Some news / Algunas noticias

Well, at last I managed to move to my new home… free at last, with some space to put my small home studio, and my lovely keyboards ;) . So I now have some time to spend in the new album. Besides, my friend Sergio (from my band Nöno, you can check our music in http://www.myspace.com/nonotheband) is recording some violin for the new tracks, so it seems that the album is going to have that synphonic flavour after all (I won’t forget the toy instruments, ‘though). Surely the release is going to delay, but just a little bit.

Bueno, por fin conseguí mudarme a mi nuevo hogar… libre al fin, con algo de espacio para situar mi pequeño estudio casero, y mis queridos teclados ;) . Así que ahora tengo algo de tiempo que dedicar al nuevo álbum. Como noticia adicional, mi amigo Sergio (de mi otra banda Nöno, podéis oir nuestra música en http://www.myspace.com/nonotheband) va a ayudarme a grabar el violin en algunos temas, por lo que parece que al final el album si va a tener ese toque sinfónico que estaba buscando (aunque no pienso olvidarme de los instrumentos de juguete). Es posible que la salida del disco se retrase, pero será solo un poquito.

Release of “Innocence” is close / El lanzamiento de “Inocencia” está cerca

Hi,
Today I have been working hard, but most of the songs are now recorded, defined and (mostly) mixed. I have just to adjust some things here and there… maybe the release of “Innocence” is close.

Hoy he estado trabajando duro, pero la mayoría de las canciones están grabadas, definidas y (mas o menos) mezcladas y editadas. Tengo todavía que ajustar algún detalle aquí y hallá, pero el nuevo album, “Inocencia”, puede estar listo pronto.

“Innocence” is ready / Inocencia está listo

…and sounds damn good to me! ;) I was unsure of the final result, as I wanted it to be as close to the original concept as possible. Finally I have managed to get everything in its right place. The disc has 27 songs, and there is a special reason for this number and for the titles, as they are related to the story behind. For this release, I felt like playing more with some lofi electronic ideas, like noise, circuit-bending and glith (love my CASIOs), but at the same time expanding my piano sound with a more symphonic palette. After all the mess I am very happy with the result… and that’s all that matters really, even though I hope you will like it. Maybe you’d find it a bit too long for your tastes, but for me everything is perfect, I won’t drop a silence second, or a note. The titles of the songs are just below. Just waiting for the cover art…

… Y me suena jodidamente bien ;) No estaba muy seguro del resultado final, ya que quería que fuera lo más fiel al concepto inicial que fuera posible. Finalmente he conseguido poner todo en su lugar correcto. El disco tiene 27 temas, y hay una razón especial para este número y para los títulos, ya que están relacionados con la historia que subyace detrás. Para este disco, quería jugar más con algunas ideas lofi electrónicas como ruido, circuit-bending y glitch (adoro mis CASIOs), pero al mismo tiempo expandiendo el sonido de mi piano con una paleta más sinfónica. Después de todo el caos estoy muy contento con el resultado, y eso es todo lo que importa realmente, aunque espero que os guste también. Quizás lo encontréis demasiado largo para vuestros gustos, pero para mi está perfecto tal como es, no quitaría un segundo de silencio, una nota… los títulos de los temas están abajo. Ya solo queda el arte gráfico para el lanzamiento oficial.

あとはカバーアートだけらしいです。
それと曲名が明らかに。全27曲。
曲数と曲名には特別な意味があり、ある物語と関係しているそうです。

何曲か翻訳機で英訳してみたらその物語がわかりました。
早く聴きたい。

Inocencia’s release coming this week
October 27, 2009

Hi, I expect “Inocencia” to be released this week. Clocking at 73 minutes, it is my longest album to date. You may think of it as a “double album” if you like :) . Luckily, I move in a world apart from the rules of the typical record labels, so I can concentrate in writing the music I want the way I want it, instead of worrying about things like “is this commercial?” or “is this too long or boring?”. It is just my music, so enjoy the bits you like and ignore the rest :D .
