2cup of masoor Dal (Red split lentil) マスールダル(レンズ豆に近い)を2カップ 8 cup of water 水を8カップ 1/2 tea spoon of turmeric powder ターメリックパウダーを小さじ1/2 One inch chopped ginger root 生姜を1かけら(3立方センチくらい) 11/2 tea spoon of salt 塩を小さじ1と1/2 One and half table spoon of curry powder カレーパウダーを大さじ1と1/2 One finely chopped onion 玉葱1玉をみじん切りにしたもの Two large tomatoes トマト(大)を2つ Two tea spoon of cumin(whole)or mustard seed キューミンかマスタードを小さじ2杯 Five cloves of chopped garlic ニンニクを5かけら Two table spoon vegetable oil and 2 table spoon of butter 植物性油を大さじ2杯とバターを大さじ2杯 Two whole lime or lemon レモンかライムを1つ One bunch of chopped cilantros 一握りのみじん切りにしたサランチョ(パセリで可)
In an 8 quart pot put all ingredients from 1 to 7 (bu only put 6 cups of water in, hold two on the side) and bring to a boil. Continue at a slow boil, till it become a good homogeneous thick soup. Add (8) Tomatoes once Dal become soft. Keep on stirring once in a while, so it does not stick to the bottom and burn. Add water if it gets too thick (from the two cups that were held). Put (9),(10) and (11) Cumin seed, garlic in oil and butter and heat it up till garlic and cumin become pink. Add this hot mix to the pot of Dal, and squeeze (12) lime and sprinkle cilantro and it's ready to serve.
