Dear Thailand Elite Valued Members, Greetings from Thailand Elite...
Further to a resolution of privatization of Thailand Elite Card from the cabinet meeting since November 17th 2009, may we take this opportunity to update our valued members regarding the situation of Thailand Elite Program.
Prior to announcement of Term of Reference (TOR) of Thailand Elite’s auction, The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) as the owner of Thailand Elite had the Council of State to interpret whether the visa privilege could be transferred to the private operator who would win the bid. Recently, the Council of State unofficially revealed this privilege was originally given by the government only to our company, a state owned enterprise, for a specific purpose and could by no means be passed along to private company. Given such interpretation the visa privilege can not therefore be mentioned in the TOR, resulting in that no potential private buyer is interested in the bidding. The program will have to be taken care by TAT thereafter.
In the meantime, please kindly rest assured that the program is still running and all privileges and benefits bestowed to members remain unaffected. We would ensure you that we would throw our best attempt to find the best possible solutions and live up to members’ satisfaction. We strongly believe that the government will definitely take full responsibility for Thailand Elite members. This is to sustain the country’s image as well as credibility.
Under the circumstance, we are truly sorry for the uncertainty and may we implore you to uphold your support and patience with us for a longer while. We are very much appreciated for your kindest understanding and if there is any update on the direction, we will keep you informed with no reservation.
Sincerely yours,
Jantima Sirisaengtaksin (Mrs.) Board Member & Acting President Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd.
