Lots going on at Soot... first off, FIESTA SOOT hits Manhattan & Montreal in early October, featuring DJ Rupture, Filastine, and Maga Bo, with heavyweight guests in each city. Busy touring schedules mean that this lineup is a special one, with artists traveling from Brazil, Spain, and the West Coast. details below.
Maga Bo just returned from Dakar, Senegal, where he filmed two videos for his upcoming album on Soot, Archipelagos. The video for "Fire" with Xuman of rap crew Pee Froiss, will be released in a week or two... stay tuned. The other video stars Senegal's first all-female hiphop crew, ALIF. for a taster, check Bo's video interview/mini-doc. Look for a new 12" EP by Bo this November, w/ the Dakar singles and a Ghislain Poirier remix.
Last month XLR8R featured Maga Bo and Diplo in an article on "New World Music". The magazine is available as free download.
DJ Rupture's radio show on NYC-area station WFMU will now be re-broadcast weekly in Belgium, Brussels, and France! Upcoming live guests: Dave Q & JuaKali of Dub War NYC (Sept. 26), Filastine (Oct. 3). Be sure to check the streamable archives.
A lot of folks have been asking for it, so the tracklist for DJ Rupture's Secret Google Cheat Codes mix is now online.
Filastine's album Burn It just wont stop! We've licensed it 3 times - mostly recently to leading French electro/dub label, Jarring Effects. (also to Japan & Green Scare Benefit by Crimethinc) He'll be doing plenty of Europe shows this fall in support of the re-release - as always, check Filastine's MurdochSpace for gig updates.

On Friday October 5, Soot Records & Funkworthy FM present FIESTA SOOT, featuring international soundboys DJ /rupture (Barcelona/Brooklyn), Maga Bo (Rio de Janeiro), Filastine (w/ guest cellist Brent Arnold), and Manhattan's own Matt Shadetek. Also on the lineup: Geko from Funkworthy & Pure Fire's Reaganomics. Video by Daniel Perlin & VJ Calibre.
The Funkworthy crew will install a proper reggae soundsystem with enough booty-friendly BASS to handle hot new ragga, dubstep, hiphop, grime, baile funk, world beat, and whatever else we use to get things poppin'.

On September 29, DJ Rupture will hit Austin, Texas, for a daytime talk & nighttime party, w/ special live video by Daniel Perlin. In October, the duo of Rupture & guitarist Andy Moor will be on tour in Europe. Rupture will do a special solo DJ set at London's Bangface rave.
Maga Bo has a handful of US dates before heading to Addis Abba, check him while you can. MurdochSpace for details.
