ということで、仕事の合間にやっておりまする。。。

of the fat slab は初めて聞いたけど、身体に脂肪の厚い層が付いているってことだよね。a slab は｢厚い板｣で建築関係でも、a concrete floor slab ｢コンクリートの床板｣なんて感じでよく使う。床だけでなく壁にも使える言葉。
そうねえ、個人的にはもっと端的な言い換えがあると思うけど。例えば、
how out of fit/condition we are、how in bad condition we are、how bad our physical conditions are とか。
他に、how lazy we are / what lazy lives we’re living なんてどうよ。

そうやね。他には、get fit、get a good figure、get myself into shape、work on my body なんかもいいんじゃない？若干ニュワンス異なるけど stay in shape はよく聞くよ。

Sounds good to me. 単純にclean it (up)、brush it up でもいいかも。他に adjust it や get it maintained は？この文脈なら get it ready なんか嵌ると思うけどなー。

確かに、時々 ,too ,either みたいな意味で会話にも出てくる。繰り返しを避ける為ね。確かラテン語由来のイタリア語なんじゃない？
