Wholly dedicated to unveil the overlooked corners of the UAE, the ongoing ‘Unseen UAE’ photography exhibition in every way bears testimony to the fact that the synonymity of the country with modernity does not overtake its amazing alchemy of cultural and natural phenomena.
Diverse and unique images Breathtaking views of remote areas, nostalgic images of the coastline, remarkable portraits of elderly Emiratis, and enormous flora and fauna captured by the brightest photographers guarantees to engage its viewer to reconsider the many appealing and inviting aspects of UAE life.
“There is more to the UAE than rapid development, sand dunes and buildings,” says Laila Yousef Al Hassan, co founder of Photolosophy, exclusively to City Times.
“It is a country with diverse biodiversity, captivating scenery, and protected areas. The ‘Unseen UAE’ photography exhibition shares with the public the often unseen and hidden richness of the UAE. They highlight the beautiful parts of our country to both residents and tourists.” The showcase features 30 unique pieces that bring a fresh perspective and introduce new ideas technically and artistically when it comes to UAE photography. It is also expected to attract prominent members of the UAE’s culture, arts and photography scene.
Young talent “The participating photographers are some of the brightest and creative young local amateur and professional photographers,” Laila adds. “They bring a ‘local’ flair to photography and wonderful insight into the environment around them.
We believe the UAE is home to so much creative photography talent and this precious resource should not be ignored.” The UAE’s first online photo agency Formed by three Emirati sisters, Laila Yousef Al Hassan, Rasha Yousef Al Hassan and Ruba Yousef Al Hassan, Photolosophy UAE’s first and only online stock photo agency www.photolosophy.ae currently has a database of over 300 UAE photographers and a library of over 1,000 images that cover different categories such as people, heritage, environment, industry and even underwater and aerial shots.
“Photolosophy was formed to promote local creative photography talent. The ‘Unseen UAE’ exhibition is a part of our vision. Our collection is as diverse as it is extensive. It consists of fresh new concepts and detailed photo descriptions, including both photos of the UAE and other subjects in colour or black and white. I believe the website collection of photos will continue to evolve, as they are constantly scoping out fresh local talent reflecting the latest cultural and creative trends,” says Laila.
Supported by Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), the exhibition has also garnered support from Shell Abu Dhabi and HP.
