EAMES OFFICEコミュのEames 作品は高くなるよ！

はじめまして。アメリカ出身のSethと申します。これから英語でかきますけど。。。

Hello, I am an Eames fan from Seattle. But I now live in Tokyo. I recently heard from a friend that sells Eames products in Japan that design products licensed by the Eames brothers (by companies such as Vitra) will jump in price during September or October. The expected price increase will be between 10 and 20 percent. Therefore, if you want to buy an Eames product, it might be good to act quickly... (I just bought some chairs!)

I can read most Japanese, but it is difficult for me to write... Sorry. If anyone is interested, let's talk about Eames in English sometimes. よろしく！

Hello Seth,

I'm living in Belgium so I'm not sure how it will be in Japan but since few mounths ago, the price of all the vitra products increased in Belgium too.

The reason was the difficulty of export of the materials I heard... The iron, wood and nylon become also much more expensive.

It was not 10 - 20% (I think it's too much) but around 2 -3%

It's nice to meet both of you! Ultimately, the price increase will be decided by each individual retailer. However, based on what I heard, the price increase is related to the high Euro, oil and material shortages, and revised licensing contracts.

I just noticed yesterday on HH Style's website ( http://www.hhstyle.com/cgi-bin/omc?port=33311&req=IPRODUCT&code=info050811 ) that they will dramatically increase prices on all Eames designed chairs by Vitra and Herman Miller later today. The increase is bigger than I expected! I hope this is not a trend for other Eames/Design products.

I don't think every store has raised their prices yet, so if you look around, you might find good prices still...

I am also worried about other design products. I hope this doesn't become an overall trend. However, because Vitra is an industry leader, they have the power to strongly effect the design/furniture market...

I am sorry for only using English!
