I have been living in NZ since I was 7 years old. So I can speak Japanese fluently yet, my writing and reading is of a Junior Highschool student...??
Anyway, I am currently a graphic designer in Auckland and my boyfriend (who is kiwi) and I really want to go and live in Japan (TOKYO) next year (2009). (I am a Japanese citizen so I have no problems with visa)
I would love to find a job as a graphic designer too but I don't know where to start looking...
I lived in New Zealand for many years as well, after I turned 9.
I'm sorry I don't live in Japan so I can't help you out with a designer job, but you may want to consider teaching English. They're always looking for "native speaker" teachers, and the pay's not bad at all. My husband and I tried living in Japan for 4 years when we were younger, and we were able to save enough to make a down payment on a house when we returned to the U.S.
It could at least give you some income while you look for your dream designer job once you get there?
Hi Aki san. Wow the webistes you gave me look great! I will email MCCANN a CV and my portfolio asap.
You mentioned freelancing. In NZ and Europe there are agencies such as AQUENT that recruit freelancers. YOu can go through them to get freelance design or Mac op work when it suits you. Is there such a thing in Japan?
When you mean freelancing - are you going through an agency?
Yes, you are right! I guess I should work for a company in Japan where I can utilise my English...
Sue and ドリモグ san thank you for your ideas. I will do so asap too.
