Report from Chris O'shea

来日していたChrisからJapanツアーのレポートが届きました!!

I woke up at 5 in the morning then made my way to the airport. My first flight was from Orlando to Houston. I was in Houston for about 2 and a half hours just sitting around the airport, I then got on my flight from Houston to Tokyo and after a very long 12 hours I finally cleared customs and grabbed my bags and met up with Rei the JP Japan marketing and sales guy.

By this point my brain felt like it was mush from all the traveling, but I just had to keep going as shit house and tired as I was it was still fun. We got to the domestic terminal and checked my bags in again. We had 2 and a half hours to kill so we go eat and drink some beers and have some yarns, Two hours pass and we get on the flight to Kitakyushu, which is a 2-hour flight.

We were picked up at Kitakyushu and by this point I was struggling. It was nine at night when we got in so I'm thinking I'll be able to have a shower then get in bed. But no we go to a wakeboard shop and I meet some people and get some photos taken then I'm back in a car traveling again im thinking this is the longest day ever. When we finally got to the hotel and in our room it was like heaven and crashed out within seconds of my head hitting the pillow.

I awoke at 830 after a solid sleep and we jumped in the car and headed to a little place that is similar to seven eleven, we grinded some food called soba it is like a noodle with soy a sours that you put wasabi and other herbs in, it was very nice.

Our next stop was the shopping center. The building was amazing it was big but small at the same time, the Japanese really know how to make to most of space. We hunted around for a while and I got a few things that were pretty cool.

We then went and checked out the Kokura castle. It is said to be date back to 1632. The construction and beauty was unreal, we went through the old castle and out into the garden, which was amazing. I love the tree's here. In the garden there was a well where you through in your coins and say a pray, after you say your pray you ring the rope that is hanging down. It is a very tranquil place.

After Kokura Castle we headed to the river that was about 20 mins away. There were about 15 people already they’re waiting to meet me and watch to me ride, everyone was supper friendly and we hung out all afternoon. I got to watch a bunch of people ride which was cool. One kid was pushing pretty hard and even knocked himself out on a KGB that was pretty crazy.

After that happened they said to me that I have to ride to lift the vibes of everyone. The boat they had was an outboard; I hadn’t ridden an outboard since I was about 14 so it was a trip riding behind one again. It was really fun I rode way better than what I thought I was going to behind that boat. All the Japanese people loved my style and watching me ride which was cool, they really hold style in high regard in Japan
After a fun afternoon of laughing and riding it was time to go back to the hotel and get ready to go to a party that they were throwing for me. The party was so fun we drank a bunch and there was a samurai there who kept making me do shots all night.

The next morning was rough we had to get up at 8 and get a train to Hiroshima. The trains here go 285Kmph here. It feels like your flying, After an hour on the train to Hiroshima we were picked up and taken to on of the local wakeboarding schools and stores that was right on the water. It was windy and rough and I was feeling hung over and not that pumped to go ride. Their boat was an inboard, which was nice. It was a boat that was made in Japan specifically for wakeboarding it was cool.

So the crew of 8 and myself all got into the boat and drove about half an hour though some of the roughest waters I have encountered, I thought we were going to sink the boat at one stage it was that bad. Everywhere you look there was islands with huge mountains overlooking the water, it kind of reminded me of Tahiti. There were oyster farms everywhere.

We finally get to the spot, which was between two huge mountains, and it was butter. A bunch of people rode before me, which was cool to see. When I got to ride the wake wasn't great but I still had some fun. After a good session of riding we went back to the Wakeboard School and had some Japanese food that was really strange. After we ate we went back to the hotel and I had a nap, as there was another party to go to. The party was a heap of fun, I signed a bunch of stuff and had some drinks with some really cool people. We finished up there around 10 and went back to the hotel to get some sleep. It was to be another early start 730am

730 came around so quickly and before I knew it we are getting a cab to the train station to get a train to Himeji. Himeji was named the city of peace back in the 50's after an atomic bomb went off.

We were greeted when we arrived by the manager of the local wakeboard shop who was there to pick us up. We went and checked out the biggest castle in Japan and it was huge. Our next stop after that was a little river that came in off the ocean. The river was so narrow you had to ride wake to wake the whole time other wise you would land on rocks, it was sketchy. We rode behind an outboard and the wake was tiny.

After surviving the rock-infested river we went and got some food and then went back out in the boat where I did some coaching with a translator. Every one picked up what I was saying really well. The people really listen well here and really enjoy being out on the water.

After a big day in the boat I went to a wakeboard shop and hung out. I ended up signing 2 cars, and they weren’t just average cars they were sick cars, it was unreal I have never had anyone want me to sign their car before.
They guys from the wakeboard store then took us all to a Chinese restaurant. Where I got to eat all types of weird shit.

The next day we were off to Tokyo, which was a three-hour train. We got to Tokyo and went and checked in too our hotel then went and grinded some food. Daniel just got here and Dazza is just about here so were going to go hang out. The rest of the trip was just about doing the contest thing. It was cool I didn't make it to Sunday which Kind of sucked but oh well what can you do it is over now. All in all it was a great experience. It’s cool to see how different cultures and how people live in different countries around the world.

It was a tight trip thanks to Jet pilot for making it happen.
