Peter Primeau Jr. is accused of killing Shinobu Higa, 36, who died Wednesday night at Fairview Hospital. An autopsy is being done this morning at the Cuyahoga County coroner's office. Police said Primeau drove his wife to the hospital about 9:30 p.m. Friday. She was rushed into surgery for abdominal injuries. Police spoke with the victim while she was intubated. She had no relatives living here.
Higa, 4 feet 11 and 90 pounds, wrote notes to answer questions, Lt. Richard Deem said. Police questioned Primeau Saturday morning and arrested him at noon, "after his story didn't add up," Deem said. Primeau was"quiet, cold and unemotional." He said he was a pre-med student at Case Western Reserve University, which confirmed he is enrolled there.

They met when he was an Air Force staff sergeant stationed in Okinawa, Japan, from 2003 to 2008. Higa worked at an aquarium in Okinawa before moving here in late 2009, Deem said. Neighbors called police in December and reported hearing domestic violence in the couple's apartment at Fairview Village at Lorain and Wooster roads. Higa denied being struck and told police they had only argued. There were no obvious injuries, Deem said.
