分からへん！(日・英会話）コミュのSay no more!

直訳の「もっと言わない」の意味ではないよ。今日の決まり文句は二つの使い方があります。もちろん文脈によります。

1．どうぞご自由と言う意味：

A: I need to use the bathroom.
B: Say no more! It's just down the hall, beside the kitchen.

2. 僕に任せてくれよ：

A: Can you take care of my dog while I'm away.
B: Say no more. It's no problem at all.

同義語

1番目の場合：
・"be my guest"
・"go ahead"
・"make yourself at home"

二番目の場合：
・"leave it to me"
・"you can count on me"
・"I'll take care of it"

など

What about in the sense of "I understand! You don't need to say anymore."

Do you know the Monty Python sketch where the character keeps saying "say no more!say no more!"?

Something like "does your wife like photography? I bet she does! say no more say no more!"
Often used when talking about scandels or gossip.

Maybe this is just a British usage I don't know.

Fireflyさん：Thanks for the post. I don't know if it's a British usage or not, but probably it's just a 'pun', or play on words, especially since it's in a comedy sketch. I'll have to look for that one, as I can't remember it right now. Thanks!
