I had to grab the iron rail at my side just in case I wouldn't slip off and fallだったらきれいな意味になるんですね。
I had to grab the iron rail at my side just in case I slipped off and fell.
This is the place which i talked about yesterday
This is the place where one of myfriends works.
This is the place which i talked about yesterday.
This is the place which i recommended.
1)You'd better take your umbrella in case it rains.
2)I don't think it will rain but I'll take it, just in case.
3) In case she is still wondering why his boyfriend didn't show up, let me explain...
I strongly suggest you to look at the Oxford English dictionary, along with an English-Japanese dictionary coz you can see lots of expressions that you don't find in J-E dictionaries and the best thing is, it is truly reliable. You'll feel much more comfortable in writing English when you get use to using it. If you don't have it go buy one. If you have it, then start using it from now on. It helps you a lot I'm telling you.
Grammar In Use Reference And Practice For Intermediate Students Of Emglish"(Raymond Murphy 著)の"In case"の項目に過去形の場合の例文が載っていました。
I draw a map for her in case she couldn't find our house.
We rang the bell again in case they hadn't heard it the first time.
You can use "in case" to say why someone did something in the past.
