I went a museum on Sunday evening in Shibuya, in which pictures drawn by Modigliani and his wife. The museum was little crowded. Although I don’t know much about these artists, there is a famous tragedy about him and his wife. The tragedy was also into a movie. He died in his artistic glory days from a disease. He was handsome and was only 36 years old. And his wife, who is 17 years younger than him, killed her self two days after his death. She was pregnant. In the museum, there were also some pictures in happiness and some picture with deep desperation. The last picture drown by his wife was great impact for me.
His paintings are very impressive specially their
eyes, noses and necks. I can never forget his paintings
after seening them once. He was an Italian Jews, wasn't
he? Many artists had hard anguish life in the past,
didn't they?
.. was great impact for me. => .. made a great impact with me
Thank Mariko-san for your interesting comment.
Yes he was a Jewish-Italian.
I’m not familiar with many other artists. But I watched a movie about another artist Frida Kahlo. Her life is also hard but the movie is not so gloomy. The images in the movie were impressive.
