Born in Brooklyn, July 20th, 1954, Larry went to school in Bensonhurst , Bed-stuy, and Flatbush.
He was an honor student as a Math and Science major.
IN 1969,He got caught up in the big city life of Manhattan.
That's when Larry's taste for nightlife included the Gallery,
Loft,Tamborlane,and all the other major clubs of the 70's era.
Larry started working the lights at the Gallery continantal, and was offerd the job of DJ when the current DJ at the club walked off the job. He was an instant and overnight success!
After working a club called Soho Place,Larry met Richard A.Long
of RLA(Richard Long & Associates).
This is when Larry started developing his skills in sound designing and engineering.
Michael Brody steered Larry in the direction of Read Street;a club which changed its location and became the Paradise Garage,
where he ruled the turntables from 1976-1987.At the time,he also
spun at Palladium,Zanzibar ,Studio 54,and several clubs around
the world such as Studio 54 in Barcellona,Waldo's in Santa Domingo,and City Hall in Caracus,Venezuela.
Larry started a record puroducing,writing.and remixing career,
working for the following artists :Duran Duran,Grace Jones,
Instant Funk,Gwen Guthrie,Peech Boys,Loose Joints,Taana Gardner,
Man Friday,and many others.
Since the close of the Garage,Larry went back to spin at the
Studio 54,the world,Warsaw ballroom, mars,and Quick,zanzibar,
the Chois,and is froming a musical group with Ken Uneeda and
Keith Mularkey called "Leviathon"
Larry Levan also worked extensively with Keith Haring on the
"Party of Life"project.
