My plans for 2007 is to move at leat a season to Japan. But I don't know yet where and when exactly. Today I was watching a documental about Japan And I was wondering which is the best city for living? ofcourse I know is hard to chose one but on self experieense which one would be?
depends on the experience you're looking for. tokyo's like other major international cities in that it's not representative of the rest of the country.
As さぃ… さんsays, it depneds on things like your objective and preference. Some people like a relaxed life in the countryside and others like an exciting life in a big city. I think it would help you and those who comment if you list what are important to you and what you'd like to avoid.
Born and raised in Kobe, I must agree with Mayu. The city offers a good combination of the nature and the urban environment. It has a large population of non-Japanese as well, so you may find it easier to fit in there.
Any of the Kansai big 3 kick ass. Osaka is dirty but has the best nighlife and a cool art-music scene. Kobe is pretty and trendy. And Kyoto is...well...Kyoto. You get all the cool stuff you could possibly find in Tokyo, nature and it`s way cheeper to live here.
Im strongly reconmend you Karuizawa! Its small, but international city. That city is famous for missionaries...Many missionaries from all over the country goes to Karuizawa to learn about mission work in japan. and that city has lots of churches. its great city!
I also think Kansai area is best!! Tokyo is big and nice, but not so good for living for a while.
At Kansai you can go a\to anyware easily...and people is very nice! I prefer to live in kyoto, because I love the city! And I had so much fun when I lived there.Osaka is also good. When I lived there,I didn't have any unconvenient things....for life, study, fun, travel, friends, even spending time by myself.☆
Tokyo is the most fantastic city I have ever been too.
I have lived in New york, Paris, Stuttgart, Los Angeles and Boston, Tokyo is number 1.
I have been around Japan seeing things, I had fun in Sapporo, got hammered in Osaka, Kyoto was charming and okinawa was tropical but TOKYO is just amazing.
If you want to literally have culture shock day to day, come to Tokyo.
Its just nonstop kickass fun....
I think the best place depends on what you wanna do in Japan. To think what you would do is the shortest way to choose where.
If you want some healings, you can choose to live in country side like Okinawa or Hokkaido. Or if you need to live in populous centers, it would be very Tokyo or Osaka.
