As far as reposting, sharing, linking, etc, it can be annoying at some times, but if you've already seen it or aren't interested, it only takes a second to scroll down to the next topic or post. I visit several sites for news, but I can't look at everything every single day, so while other people complain they've already seen a certain topic yesterday, some other people may not have had the chance to see it yet, or may have been doing something else at the time that particular topic became popular.
Or, like myself sometimes, if you see an interesting piece of news here, but aren't proficient enough or are too lazy to debate about it in Japanese with everybody else on mixi, you can post it here in the English section.
mixi just added a new feature "mixi check", where you can "check" a story for several different reasons, but one being you'd like to share it with your friends if you think somebody else might find the article interesting as well. I've read some interesting news articles that friends have recommended here.
>>* This really has nothing to do with our lives.
Are you 100% sure about that? Maybe some of your friends are really affected or feel strongly about a certain topic, and need to get something off their chest? Maybe they want to hear other opinions on the subject? Not every news site gives people the option of posting comments on an article. It also helps if the original poster adds their own opinions in with the post, or at least asks a good question to get the topic started. But, if you don't want to join the discussion, just keep scrolling down.
It is one thing if its excessive, a la 5 different links daily. But casual link posting is just like posting a link of a video or commenting on something. I think a post about an interesting news topic has more to do with our lives than a post like "I'm tired today."
@aznatama
Since i'm talking about discussions with close friends, don't get many of those "I'm tired today" comments. We've gone places together, have experience doing things together (like drinking), so we have shared experiences we can talk about.
From those close friends, reposting news articles or music videos seems lame.
The "I'm tired today" comments is another albeit less annoying gripe. Those are easier to ignore. Don't take up as much screen space.
No one is interested in every single mundane activity that goes on in a person's life. Don't know why people bother chronicling their lives real time. It just ain't interesting. I would recommend only telling people about the interesting parts and leaving out the mundane stuff. Then people will be more likely to follow your comments. Cuz it's interesting.

Haven't seen how "mixi check" works yet. Hope it doesn't clog up the discussion forums.
mixi check is only viewable for the people on your friends list here, so it won't "clog up" any forums. There's also an option where you can move it down to the bottom of your front page here, or not show it at all.
