I was wondering if anyone could help me to find school and financial support to study a master degree in Canada.
Currently, I'm studying the career of Manga at a University in Hyogo. When I graduate I'll have a bachelor degree. I will graduate on March of 2010. 3 years ago, I took the TOEIC and achieved 910 points. So, the language is no problem at all. The matter is that I have Peruvian nationality, and most of the financial help in the sites I've visited is for Japanese people.
I'm interested in studying animation, graphic design, others.
I dont know if there is any sort of master degree in animation schools.
Graphic design... OCAD/Sheridan(Toronto) or ACAD(Alberta) might have strong programs.
I go to OCAD for drawing and painting as a second year student(just finished for the year). Sheridan College has the best program for animation, but also you will need a really strong portfolio. If you graduate from the sheridan animation program, you are basically promised to get hired by big names like Pixar.
Check out all the schools I mentioned above and get some info about financial support and other stuff.
All these schools are universities except Sheridan, despite of their name. Tho Sheridan does give you a bachelor degree.
But honestly speaking, you could potentially earn way more $ in fine art than doing crappy design works. That's if you are good at doing business. Starving artist is sort of a myth when you do it right.
I just really do not recommend wasting your talent doing poorly paid illustrations.
Also for your knowledge, Canada's art market is growing but still pretty small compared to the states'. Doing design or fine art exclusively in Canada is kind of suicidal as well. Going to American/European art schools might give you more chances and opportunities in art/design business, on the other hand, they do charge you far more than ones in Canada. Also in OCAD as one of Canada's best art schools, only 5% of our graduates will pursue their career as an artist or designer... not exaggerating.
Anywho, good luck with everything. I hope you got something from my post.
