hey guys. i came back to japan about two months ago from beijing. im kinda having culture shock since i lived in beijing for so much yearsand the biggest shock was that no one in the city thati live acctually speak english.
In beijing i spoke english n chinese all the time, butbecause i came to japan i cant speakenglish n im worry if my english skills would go down or not.. does anyone know the place where theres foreginer gather together?
If you wish to keep your English language intact, I would suggest that you have the basic English grammar covered, including the correct capitalization ("I" and "Beijing" instead of "i" and "beijing") and spelling ("I'm" instead of "im"). Those are the things you can learn or re-learn without interacting with native English speakers.
haha, well a lot of people type like than when they're in a hurry. Me, too, sometimes :-)
Where in Japan are you at the moment?
In general, you can find foreigners in universities. Many people leave notes there, saying they look for friends.
Also in English Pubs etc, you can find a lot of foreigners.
When I was in Japan, I felt a bit lonely and wanted to have more friends.
Funnily, there were many people who wanted to do "language exchange" with me, but we would like meet once a week in a cafe, talk for two hours, and that was it. Plus they always seemed to want to talk English only.
So I kinda felt abused as an English teacher. I was looking for people who'd hang out with me, for example go to fleamarkets or Karaoke or take purikura or hiking or barbecue, etc, and introduce me to their other friends, etc. Like, just normal friends. I luckily found some of that sort, but not so many unfortunately :-(
As long as you have a great sense of humour, your potential english skill will never fade away x) Woohooo. Or more like it's rather useful than making a dull and shitty talk for hours.
