☆ENGLISH ONLY☆コミュのIchiro wins the "Best Mariner" 2008

Thought you might like to know that Ichiro won the Reader's poll for "Best Mariner" in the Seattle Weekly's best of 2008 awards

They said: "Even a season this miserable can't break our love for the sleeve-tugger. "

That's about the only good news about the Mariners. :)

They used to be good... I'd often go watch their games and leave the ballpark happy. Doesn't happen anymore... pretty sad.

Yeah - I don't follow Baseball but my friends who love sports in Seattle are not very happy at the moment - they lost their basketball team as well...

Sarah,

Yeah, I know. We've lost the Sonics, and the Mariners stink. The Seahawks are doing pretty good, but I'm not a big football fan. :(

Hey, I kinda know the feeling as from NZ, where no matter how good the All Blacks are (and they are damn good) they just can't seem to win the Rugby World Cup <sigh>

hey
who was the di*k-head newspaper guy saying Mariners don't need Ichiro?
ha !
But for Ichiro, they would've been a minor league team.

HAMASHO (#5)

I read that article. I don't necessarily disagree with the writer. Not that Ichiro stinks. In fact, the writer does consider him to be very good. The question is, is Ichiro the kind of guy that can drive a team to a higher level? That's a totally different skillset than being able to produce hits and steal bases.

Second place: the bat boy.

word.

Such a sad season... I feel bad for Ichiro and for Johjima. But the way the front office operates, spending large amounts of $$$ on crappy players (*cough* SEXTON *cough*)

At least the game on August 4th ("Japanese Baseball Night") was an awesome, come-from behind win! Down 6-0, and the Mariners managed to win.
