At most theaters in Japan, can I sit wherever I want? It seems stupid to pay 1800 yen and not be able to set where I want to....

Some theaters let you reserve seats by buying online... I never go anywhere else.

Great movie by the way.
i bought a ticket in one of those ticket booths near the west Exit of Shinjiku station , It says I can use it here -> http://www.shinjukupiccadilly.com/
don't worry. The movie is worth every yen you pay.
I couldn't get a seat where I wanted. But no matter where you sit, the movie is still great!!!!
TDK was the MOST epic movie i have ever seen in my entire life. i sat in my seat speechless when it ended. hope i'm not over hyping it for ya. hahaha. EPIC!!
I liked it but I'm a bit over 150 minute movies. I don't
want to give any spoilers so I'll just say Heath Ledger was
frighteningly good as the Joker, he was more than enough
for the movie.
TDK is so good, you could be blind and deaf and still enjoy it. I almost want to fly to Japan just to watch it again.
It is a great movie and I agree with Ian, the Joker was disturbingly good.
Toho Cinema in Roppongi Hills has the best reserved seating theaters. Try the Premier Screen for ¥3,000. It's definitely worth it, especially with a blockbuster like Dark Knight.

In my experience, if there's a free seat after the movie starts you can basically always sit there.
I already bought a ticket so I have to go to this theater, but that one does look nice.
I'm really interested in how the crowd reaction is to the Dark Knight vs America's crowd. Will the Japanese applaud or scream out loud at "those certain" scenes? Can someone get back to me on that?

Basically, we don't make noise in a theater. it is considered to be rude.
however a little laughter is acceptable.

Besides a lot of jokes are lost in translation or simply cultural based, so they aren't understood no matter what kind of movie it is.
As for TDK, only my husband and I were laughing at the Joker's "magic trick" but it didn't draw any laughter from Japanese audience. *shrug*
NO SPOILERS PLEASE for the love of god... おねがいします〜。。
I've found that interesting in the States people clap at the end of a good movie...never come across that before. They did it at the end of SATC and now TDK. I agree with Ian, they def can't hear you -still kinda feels good to applaude!
No, I don't think so. In the theater close to my house, we can buy any tickets for 1500yen if you are over 15(high school student), and if you have a member card you can buy it for 1300 yen. 1200 for late show.
I can always choose the seat, whatever I like. I think that's because I live in countryside! hahaha Yeah, theaters in countryside would be better.
Anyone else going to see this this weekend? What are you doing about seating with friends? I im not sure how I can sit with my friends since i bought my ticket separately at a ticket box.
