As my study in language school is going to finish next month end, I'm thinking of getting a full-time job in Japan (so I can stay here longer... ^^;). I've obtained a university degree in my home country and also some working experience on IT jobs (mainly technical/development side). And I have a few questions now...
1. How many companies are willing to help an applicant in getting a working visa? Or do most of them require the applicant to have a valid visa before applying? 2. How long will it takes for changing the visa status? 3. Where is the best place to look for jobs? I've found quite a lot of consultant company on the web, but the principal of my school seems very cautious about this, and advised me to go to Employment Service Center for Foreigners instead, but I don't think the jobs posted there is as decent as those in the consultant company... 4. How is the prospect for IT jobs in Japan?
Any help/suggestion will be much appreciated! (^^)
Do you have any preferences in what kind of companies you would like to work in .
1. There are many Japanese and Foreign companies in Japan who help employees get a work permit (engineer's visa or a intra company tranferee visa)
2. Changing from business visa to work permit takes approximately one and a half month
3. There are two types of placement agencies in Japan a) Jinzai Shoukai b) Haken Gaisha ..
Jinzai shoukai companies connect you and the companies and once you are selected , get out of the picture.
2) But in Haken companies, they emply you , depute you to some company and keep 30% of your salary ..maybe your principal is apprehensive about that
4) Prospect of IT jobs in Japan is very good.
If possible , can you tell me what programming languages/skills you have worked on earlier?
I am working for American IT company's branch Tokyo.
1. Company provides visa support if you are manager classs or above. If you are entry level or staff level with no managing people, you might need to get working visa before applying.
3. You might need to ask your friends working in IT industry about job agencies. Having good recruiters is must to get a job, I think. Haken Gaisha will probably get you are job shortly but you cannot expect good salary nor visa support. I recommend getting a fulltime job via recruiting agencies.
abhi_marx: I'd prefer companies that'll make use of both English and Japanese during work, as I'm still a bit not confident enough in my Japanese conversation skill... ^^;;;
I've experiences in Java (Servlet, JSP and Struts), PowerBuilder, PHP and some Perl. For database, I've worked for 2-3 years under Oracle, and worked with MySQL for half a year in my recent part-time job. How do you think this combination of skillset?
au: Thanks, I'll grab a copy tomorrow to see if I can find some jobs that's good for me. (^^)
ジャイ子: As my experiences are heavily baised on technical side, I think I might not be able to get a job in management positions yet... I'm staying with my pre-college student visa and I think I can't get a working visa by myself...
"I've worked for 2-3 years under Oracle"...you worked for Oracle Japan ?? or something like Oracle DBA or Oracle Financial implementation in some company?
DO you have apprehensions in working for Indian IT companies in Japan?
If not , do send me your CV minus all your contact details. .if I think I can arrange an interview for you after goin through ur CV then I will ask for ur contact details.
abhi_marx: Oops... I just mean I'm using Oracle database for development and not really working inside the Oracle Corporation... Sorry for the misunderstanding... ^^;;;
I've my Japanese resume ready, but do you prefer an English one instead? It needs some update but I can send it to you a day or two later.
