Hi everybody. I have a question. My younger sister (also have a younger brother) recently went to Disneyland and bought me this T-shirt with Grumpy from Snow White saying, "I'm right, your're wrong. Any questions?" Now... for the past few days, I've been having some trouble trying to figure out what kind of message my sister was trying to deliver.
If you were my sister and you gave me this shirt, what are you trying to get across? Please help me read between the lines.
No need to spin your tires here Now, if she bought and gave you a Snow White T-shirt, than that obviously warrants for questions.
Assuming your a male attracted to the opposite sex only.
I checked your profile and reckon you are guys.
Mine's kind of tricky cause my handle name consists of me ♀51 hoping to become a yamanba someday, and kumakichi ♂8 a black indigenous japanese ainu and wolf dog mix.
My sister is 6 years younger, and basically we get along fine, and yes, I am happy and grateful. It's just that I had a history of bullying her as a kid, and when I recall several recent moments when the three of us including my brother who is 8 years younger, get together, I fear that I STILL MIGHT BE THE MEAN OLD SISTER. (T.T)
Especially when she gave me the T-shirt.
I was left wondering if
A) She was trying to tell me that I haven't lost my vicious streak.
or
B) She timidly admits that I'm right and she's wrong (about something...
I have a hunch about what, it's it's just that I can't decide.)
No big deal in particular. I just wanted some objective views...
Still room for more....anyone?
Maybe she gave it to you because there is something about you that makes you somehow similar to Grumpy; you do or say things in a similar manner to Grumpy.
With that phrase, if you want to focus just on that, means that you think that you, yourself, is always right, and that everyone else is wrong. The " any questions" phrase is just a sarcastic extra jab, really, to drive the point home.
Instances like these,, at least for American culture, are just ways to poke fun/have fun with people. I personally wouldn't take it anymore than that.
However, depending on her personality and other circumstances that I wouldn't know of, it could be a way to say something else. Looks like if you really want to know, you'll have to decide how you want to go about finding that out.
thank you 霊気のnympheさん
mmm... maybe i look like grumps. I'll take another look in the mirror
lol.
Our family lived in the States for a while, so we do enjoy jokes and fun. I won't take it personally, no way.
If you had an elder sister, would there be a "punch line" here?
Indeed it is kind of a vague question...
Let me rephrase, if you were to buy this for someone, what kind of person would that be?
I just thought the Tshirt was funny and wanted to have fun expanding the subject
> It's just that I had a history of bullying her as a kid
The oldest child is often a bit of a bully... Yes? "I am the oldest and therefore I am always right!" ahaha.... So I think it is natural for her to tease you about this.
> I fear that I STILL MIGHT BE THE MEAN OLD SISTER.
You will always be the "mean old sister"! Even when you are both old - 還暦以降の方- she will still tease you about this... 勿論。。。:)
> I just thought the Tshirt was funny
This is my thinking too... She thinks it is funny and she hopes you will think it is funny too... as you both remember your days as young sisters....
