I don't know in detail about the center examination of college. What is the meaning of center? Anyway this examination was practiced on January 15th and 16th (Saturday and Sunday). but it snowed heavily on both days.
It snowed more heavily in the side of the Sea of Japan, but it snowed only a little in the side of the Pacific. It is clearly unfair. Students in snowy country are unfavorable.
Japanese like entrance and graduation in the season of the cherry blossoms. And so entrance examination are practiced in January or February. I can't understand why the center examination is necessary, because students must take two examinations in this season.
Surely some colleges use the results of this examination, but this examination is not so important for many difficult colleges. I think that this examination should be abolished.
It is better that each colleges practice each original examinations. When I was a student, there was not the center examination. And there was no problem.
If you don't know the details about something, why are you posting about it? You only make yourself sound uninformed.
Sounds to me like the SATs, but only held once every year instead of every weekend like in the US.
Whether the test is worthwhile I can't say, but holding it once a year puts too much pressure on the students... and weather can outright screw people over. Sounds just like the JLPT...
Another case of Japan being stubborn, really. I'll bet you could revolutionize teaching methods if the entire year wasn't centered around one or two tests.
in my opinion, the centre examination is necessary for students taking entrance examinations for national universties. Every universities have the minimum passing grade, so students can get to know whether they can take the university which they want to go the best by the centre examination. If their scores dont reach, they need to change the university which they want to go.
In my case, i took the centre eaxmination for a private university.
After that, students marked by themselve.i did too.then, they can know the possibility to pass the examination by grading from A to E before applying. In this grade, i failed to pass the examination for the university i really wanted to goX(because i used the system using the centre exam....
Exactly, this is not so important for the difficalt universities.
actually, Keiou university announced to quit using the centre examination...
some students take the centre exam as mock or practice before taking the exam for universiteis they want to go the best.
so i think the importance is different by sudents and each unicersities:)
