i started this topic cause i noted one of Mr.KUMA's replies in DEAL BREAKERS. starting smoking is his deal breaker in date.

it's coincident that i was just told by my friends about her experience: she was sitting with her customer, and suddenly he saw a pretty lady and he started smoking .. my friend asked him why, he answered the way he smokes can attract girls

probablly he was just kidding. but it happends a lot in movies, man/woman started to smoke when he/she found someone charming.

i dont smoke and i dont hate smokers but that sucks if someone talk to me when they are smoking.

on the other hand, i know some ppl think smokers are attractive

So, how do u think about it？

If you can pose like those guys in Japanese movies with their nice suits, good hair cuts and awesome looks while you smoke, perhaps its cool.

But for non-smoker, I can tolerate an occasion of breathing in 2nd hand smoke because guests/friends smoke.

As for air pollution, air is quite polluted already in the big city. An occasion intake of 2nd hand smoke isn't going to shorten life more than it already has by breathing in polluted air.

I hate kissing girls that smoke. It tastes like cigarettes and you can even tell the brand (it's minty!). it's definately not cool.

NO WAY!
i dont care about people smoke or not coz thats not my business
but i hate people smoke in front of someone who doesnt like smokers.
its soooooooo stressfull to talk someone who is smoking!
i think thats kinda rude and not cool at all.
i dont understand that we can smoke inside of building.
in vancouver we can smoke only outside or inside of casino.
how wonderful this law is!

I used to smoke one ~ one and half pack cigarette. I stop smoking because of my health problem.
Since then smoke really bother me. I do know every people has some habit and it becomes addictive. Also people doesn't much care if someone has habit in common with you. I think people is quite selfish. In the United States it getting difficult for smoker to find a free smoking area. Government banned smokers influence to the second hand smoker. Year by year this law is bigger and bigger. Now most of restaurants doesn't allow to smoke inside. However, I see many people are smoking and walking in Downtown Los Angeles. Patio is available for smokers outside of restaurants. I hate smokers because of their bad manner. But there are many rule-follower smokers too. Bottom line, I need to accept smokers if they smoke at the certain area and keep rules.

Smoking was cool, but is getting not cool.
I wanna know how smokers will act in the future when smoking is totally uncool.
They are only victims of media hype or peer-pressure.

Ah, and Smokers always say they don't wanna live long, but they never commit suicide.
My father says so, my friends say so.It is so funny.
But I hate to see smokers discard cigarette butts.It is so disgusting.

I'm not attracted to smokers at all. My father came incredibly close to dying, and what happened to him stemmed from smoking for so many years. Same with an aunt of mine. Thankfully they both have quit now. I don't think I could date a smoker, because I wouldn't want to think of them suffering that same fate, and the pain and fear I felt was unimaginable.
Actually, if a person who knows what happened to my father continues to smoke, I lose pretty much all respect for them. If I am dating someone, I like to be affectionate, and I can't see myself wanting to kiss a smoker, either.
However, all of that being said, I don't really get involved. I'm a shy person, so I don't try to push that opinion on other people. I just choose to become friends with people who don't have that habit.

When I see smokers, sometimes I think that he/she is cool.
I can't explain the reason well but people who are smoking with a languid expression have the distinctive charm.
I think that it is ok for them to smoke to get rid of their stress as long as they never bother someone who don't like smoke.
But I don't like persons who are smoking to attract other people.
Because if I notice that a person is trying to act cool, I won't think that he/she is cool.

I tried smoking a few times. I'm glad that I did not get addicted. I always watch old movies they used smoking to be stylish. Even my favorite detective smoked!

It would be hard for me to date a smoker.

If I find a girl amusing, interesting and attractive....a cigarette in her hand isn't going to change that. I think immediately rejecting someone over something like that you might lose a chance for happiness.

It wouldn't be a "deal breaker," but it wouldn't be a habit I'd like. The smell, the smoke, the ash trays, the ashes themselves. I just don't like cigarettes. We'd have to stand outside all the time so I could breathe.

But if they're a good person, I'd be happy to quietly nag.

I don't think it would be a Deal Breaker... But, Right now I don't want to be around too many smokers.. Cause I myself am in the process of trying to quite.. So being around other smokers at this moment would more than likely make me pick it back up >___<;;

My dad and all my uncles are heavy smoker and alcoholic and I hated their habits, and I thought I would never chose those type guys but I married one of those guy at first I thought he was cool so I can deal with him. But his charm won’t help it in long run, I couldn’t stand when smoker can’t find their cigarette they get so irritated. I think most smoker has short temper. It’s not worth to risk own health and be with loser wasting money for cigarettes and alcohols. I can’t separate smoker=loser, so they’re never cool, they just pretend wannabe cool like old movie stars in 50s… Those era is dead long time ago. People are a lot more health conscious now. If you smoke in public, bum will ask you cigarette because they think you’re one of them.

They’re such a turn off. Smoker voices are terrible and their breath rotten stinks and body odor worse. Even I thought they’re cute after I found out they’re smoker I lost interest of him. It won’t last. Believe me I’m not losing any good happiness opportunity to pass on nice smoker guy. Without their cigarette they have devil personality… I can’t breathe smoking airs now luckily living in smoke free environment in US. But when I go Japan its so difficult to live in smoke free environment. Most people has no manner they never ask if they can smoke in front of me…

I don't think smorkers are loser, but I kind of agree with violet.

I'm attracted to people who quit smoking.They know how smorkers feel, they know what smoking is like, and they sufferd from quitting it. I respect them. I think they experienced bad things and know good things.

I find some girls smoking cigaretts are sexy, but those girls are sexy anyway. My image of girls + smoking = having some kind of problem + sex.

I spent too many years in smoky clubs... and now can not deal with smoke. It hurts my eyes, and I don't like the smoke.

I don't think it is sexy at all

As the comment about taxes. I saw a study that smoking is good for the government.

Smokers pay a lot of taxes, and they die quickly and earlier then non-smokers, so from a pure money point of view smoking is good.

But watching a loved one die from smoking is something that no one should have to see

I am allergic to cigarette smoke, so I don't think smoking is attractive. It can look cool, but I can't be around anyone that smokes!

...It's very tough for me when I visit Japan because there are so many smokers!

I'm sure all that is true....but alcohol also does a lot of damage and nobody seems too fussed about that. Anyway, I think smoking will disappear before too long. It wouldn't surprise me if it was made illegal in some countries in the next 50 or so years. It costs $15 for a pack of 20 cigarettes in Australia. They aren't allowed to be put on display anymore and soon they will have to be sold in a plain white pack.

I, as a smoker, never thought smoking is cool. It's just a habit. Well, a bad bad habit.
What uncool to me is just when someone I do not know very well tells me to quit it :(
I do not smoke where it is not allowed nor where/when think I should not, just FYI..

Eventhough sometimes I think it is nonsense paying extra tax in exchange of endangering my health, I am still in love with my precious coffee & cigaretts moment ;)
