I have heard this story from my teacher. He is a great person.
There are some persons who are said as an able person or a brilliant person in any offices or organizations. And such persons are selected or entrusted with important tasks due to their good reputation.
Then there are some persons who say,“He has got a good chance by accident”, and envy him. But is it true? Exactly chances visit us equally.
Whether we can really get a chance or not, it is due to our daily efforts. If we don't strive everyday, we can't make the most of a chance.
A chance doesn't run away, but we can't really get a chance, because our daily efforts are not enough. We should be absorbed in our work, and then we can really get a chance.
In the martial arts we talk about the importance of luck. The best martial artists lose, and complete novices sometimes win. Of course victory usually follows skill but it's not always the case.
Perhaps what is most important is not the opportunity so much as being able to see it.
I think effot is not good enough. it seems to me what is important is how you make efforts. and in which direction you direct your effort. on what base....
for exmple, there are ones which are directed for purely egoistic wants and needs, as well as ones which are directed for the sake of humankind, to put it wiht exageration . all the desires and efforts are not equal but I think there are invisible laws which determines the results of what we have done.
so Let us see things cleary and make good efforts.! (I myself are caught up in traps of very narrow, self centerd desires.)
2)there are invisible laws which determines
the results of what we have done
3)make good efforts
I agree with your opinion.
Maybe there are good efforts and bad efforts,
but I don't know moral standards of judgment.
My teacher has always said that life is sweat, bitter
tears and sympathy.
Anyway we should make a lot of efforts if we want
to get something, and maybe “sympathy” or “kindness”
is necessary at the same time.

thank you for your comment on my opinion. as you said ,I also feel that kindness and sympathy are good ways (especially without intenthion of calling our "chance") to be given good chances and the key to open the door to touch the invisible law. it is difficult though, but simple truth that has been even before bible on earth that is 「Give, and you will be given」 I wish I could live that way.....
