I am prepairing a report about cultural differences between Japan and "the west" (forgive me for simplifying) using the movie Nana.
In this movie, there are two girls called "Nana", one is the black haired singer, one is the brown haired cute irl, I'm asking about the brown haired Nana:

If you have time, could you tell me how you like that "Nana", if you would choose her as a friend, and what you think of her character? And, why do you think her boyfriend betrays her?

I am a Big Fan of 矢沢愛（YAZAWA AI)- the original writter of this movie for long time and have read all her Comics.
I think Hachi is a nice girl.
If you read the comics, you will have different thoughts on her.
Personnally, I had similar experience and encouters like her, so, I can understand her feeling very well.
Many ppl perfer the Blast Nana. But I am not, I just think the Blast Nana is very Selfish. Compared, Hachi is more considerate and nice.
Personnally, I dont like the movie because I lperfer the comics and the comics version is more interesting and touching.

I think Hachi is very cute as a girl, but I am sure I won't be friends with her. Her character is a kind of ''princess'' to me. She seems like she doesn't care about what others are thinking. I used to have a co-worker like her (she was worse and not cute at all though :P), and got sick of her.
However, u know, there's some guys who likes girls like that. Too childish and selfish...

ive watched "nana 1" but ive not watched "nana 2 " yet. but ive read nana's comics so i know the story.
in my opinion, i think that nana is really attractive girl. i mean she is fashionable, nice style, cute, charming and so on. do you remember Nobu , the guy who played bass guiter as a member of Black Stones. He likes her cos of her attitude. nana is not that bad girl cos she is not pretending her attitude.
the reason why he betrayed her is, i guess, he had no confident to protect her and her child. he had no idea that he would be her child's father. he said that he was sure that he was not her child' father. he cant believe that nana had another boyfriend , Takumi.
if nana was my friend, um, difficult question:-) but i guess, i would give some advices if she had some problems. but i would not talk my problems to her cos i couldnt think that she would give some for me appropriately. that means i cant be her friend.she is my "weve-known-each-other"-friend. and thats the proof that she just has a few girl friends, Nana with black hair and um, i forgot her name... sorry...

Hachi vs Nana... hrmmm.
I haven't seen the comic before, but I saw the movie. My impression of Hachi's character is that she's a nice girl, but maybe a little bit too needy. She maybe has too much 'amae'. I think most guys in general don't women who are too clingy, even if part of them might want a girl who puts them a pedestal. It's too suffocating to have a girl who's constantly pestering you and badgering you.
I'd probably get along a lot better with Nana, probably because:
1) Women who are artistically talented are attractive to me (singers, actresses, poets, etc).
2) Our personalities are similar. I feel like I could understand Nana a lot more than Hachi, maybe because I like her ambitions to be self-sufficient and find her own kind of success.

Hachi is nice to everybody.
To nana, shinichi, nobu etc.Her kindness is unconditional.
She choose takumi rather than nobu because she is considering the futre of her baby.
Nana is a very possessive woman, she is jealous of Reila;don't like the new relationship of Yasu and her new GF, and she want Nobu be with Hachi because she don't want to lose hachi..... You see, Ren teach her many music knowledge, teach her playing guitar. But, then, she want to compete with him at last......I just think she is horrible.
Hachi is nice to everybody.
