KEN'S DIARY: Ken's Diary-6 /Dec.7〜8 (1)

その1> Ken's Unique Instructions on getting employment

This week I had two good news:

First, I got informed that a college student passed the
entrance exam including interview tests for the the Tokyo Metropolitan
Police Department (警視庁), which made me feel really glad.

I used to teach him English during the spring before he went to Oita to
enter his university, Asia-Pacific Ritsumei Univ. about 4 years ago.
Then, this summer I coached this college student how to have
a successful interview with police agencies, Fukuoka Police Agency
(福岡県警) and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.

As you know, I teach or coach university students, high school students
and other young people how to have a good and successful
job interview test. I have been conducting this instructions for free
as one of my volunteer activities for over five years.
I am very proud of this activity and highly confident that my instructions
will
surely bring about a great success to the young people who take my
instructions.

My instruction on how to have a good and successful job interview,
which is elaborately designed mainly for young people, is quite different
from the similar seminars or trainings organized by their universities,
public or private organizations or private circles just like F.U.N. which
is organized and based in Fukuoka for local college students.

Seems to me that university students and other young people
are very poor at expressing themselves. They cannot make a good,
impressive presentation on themselves even in their mother
tongue-Japanese. Besides, they are very shy and small in voice volume.
They cannot have any clear facial expression to attract their interviewers.
They are also very passive at any interview test.

So, I instruct them to improve their attitude so well
that they can express themselves in an attractive, clear and
bright manner. I also advise them that they should become
even with their interviewers.
Japanese people tend to think that their interviewers are
somewhat superior to them in position-wise when in an interview test.
But all men should be equal even in any interview test, and so
interviewees should become nicely aggressive.

On the following day, I met with a young man who
goes to Kinki University in Iizuka.
His mother is one of my customers who I translate for.
I came to know that this son was going to have some
interview tests soon. So I introduced my instruction service
to the mother, whose son said he wanted to have my instruction.

In my session, I asked him to explain me 1) about himself
say, good points and shortcomings he thinks about him,
2) the reason why he wants to enter the company he is
going to have an interview test with, and 3) any of his own
episodes he experienced during his college days.

Then, I improved the ways he talked about these topics
so that his actual interviewees will surely have a positive
and good impression on him.

I also told him several tips to win the heart of the interviewers.

The contents of my instruction is suggested by the following

By the way, if you have any
of your children or relative or students who will have
any job interview test, you are highly recommended to let me know
and if you are really OK, I will coach them for their true success.
