【4】プレゼンテーションの内容 I'm going to talk about religions in Japan. Shinto and Buddhism are the two major religions in Japan. Shinto is the native religion of Japan. Shinto is polytheistic, and its gods are worshipped at shrines called jinja. Shinto has no specific founder or any books of scripture. Buddhism was founded in India and introduced through China and Korea to Japan in the 6th century. It teached a way to enlightenment and has exerted great influence on the spiritual and cultural aspects in Japan. Although the two religions are different, most Japanese accept both and alternate between religions depending on the situation. For example, weddings are performed with the Shinto rites, while funerals are held at Buddhist temples. Since Shinto avoided death as an impurity, Buddhist monks began to play a role in death rituals, and Buddhism gradually became associated with funerals.
