A: Okay, I will ask you some questions about Japan. Recently, it seems like Japanese government has been putting a lot of effort in tourism industry. Why is that?
>I think one of the reason is that Japanese economy is shrinking because of the declining birthrate and it is getting difficult to increase domestic demand so the government is trying to increase income through tourism. （答えを用意していなかったので、内心焦りました。文法を気にする余裕はなかったです。）
A: What should be done to increase tourists?
>I think we should promote more of our unique culture, history and beautiful scenery. Also, we need to increase signs in English and more people should try to speak more English. （更に困って、イマイチな答えです）
Do you think it is difficult for tourists to travel in Japan outside of a group?
>It could be a little difficult because of the language barrier. Japanese people are very kind and helpful but most people still hesitate to speak English. language could be a problem...（この質問も何を言えばいいのか良くわからず、 若干にごし気味でした）
Where would you recommend in Japan for tourists who have already been to Tokyo and Kyoto.
>That's a very good question（いろいろあるので何にしようと時間を稼ぎ）...it depends on what the tourist want but. I recommend Okinawa. Okinawa has a very unique culture and is very different from the mainland. Also, I believe the tourist will enjoy beautiful beach and scenery and Okinawa food.
A: Could you tell me about Okinawa food?
>Traditional Okinawa food uses lots of pork and vegetables, such as bitter gourd called Goya, it's very healthy. Another interesting thing is that there are some dishes that are mixture of Okinawa food and food from the US, such as Taco rice. It is rice topped with tacos.
A: Oh, it's not taco as in octopus but Mexican tacos. Fusion dish, that's interesting.

A: I see lots of McDonalds and Wendy's' and other fast food chains in Japan. Are there any Japanese fast food chain shops?
>Yes. One example would be Yoshinoya, a gyudon chain. Gyudon is a bowl of rice topped with sliced beef and special sauce. They are inexpensive and popular.
A: Is it like sukiyaki?
>Yes, a little similar but less vegetables. It only has sliced onions and beef.

Many people have the image that Japan is very expensive. Is that true? Do you think so?
>It is true, but as I have mentioned, there are cheap places to eat and you can find a cheap way to travlel. I don't think the train is expensive in Japan.

研修などを通し、日本の知識の理解を深め、身につけ、そしておもてなしの心を持って仕事に取り組むこと、のような感じで回答しました。
●受験の感想
試験官Ａは50〜60代ぐらいの大学教授の様な男性で、威圧感はなかったです。試験官Ｂはご年配の笑顔の優しい日本人女性でした。
初めての受験で、文化、日本人論、歴史、何を聞かれるのか直前まで参考書を見ながらドキドキしていたのですが、蓋を開けてみれば個人の意見を聞かれる質問ばかりで、私が話した内容に即して新たな質問が来る、完全な会話型進行スタイルでした。緊張の為、考えるよりも先にしゃべってしまい、自分の発言に自分でフォローを入れるような形になってしまい、文法も含め、納得した回答にするのは難しかったです。最後に日本語での質問/回答があったのは意外でした。振り返ればもっと上手く説明できた箇所や、ああ言えば良かったという点が多々あり、思っていたよりあっけなく終了してしまったので、手応えも何もないのですが、一生懸命会話をし、表情やアイコンタクトも気をつけたので合格しているといいなあと心から願っています！
