Texas Native and Austin resident, Bruce Hughes, is a new find – at least for me – and co-producer of this album. He played with Stephen Bruton in the Austin band, The Resentments. I first heard Bruce a few years ago when The Resentments were playing in London. He plays with l’attidude. Bruce’s talent as a bass player, guitarist and singer is highly sought after by groups from a parallel universe; groups like: Jason Mraz, Fastball, Bob Schneider, The Scabs, Teratoma, and Poi Dog Pondering. The kids today…go figure. Although Bruce is on the cutting edge of the current musical scene, at his core he is all Sheik. His production skills and technical savoir faire were essential to this project.
