FUCK BUSH !コミュのI'm tired

I’m really getting tired of the indifference I see in the regular folks regarding this war.

We’re murdering tens and thousands of innocent civillians, women and children and we’re “too busy” with out personal lives!?

I swear, people just don’t seem to care that much. Does it have to take a draft for people to start taking a stand?

Unless *we* stand up for ourselves, the administration will not end the war. If this war continues to be “profitable” in the administration’s standards, it will go on until eternity. Why aren’t people interested!? Is Iraq too far and foreign to them? Don’t people realize that we are all one “nation”? This sickens me.

I’m willing to do the sit-ins or whatever, I’m up for boycotting anything that would benefit the antiwar mmt. Seriously, it’s MORALLY WRONG to *ignore* the sufferings we’re causing to other nations. Not taking any action is like supporting the wrongdoings.

I wish the democrats had a spine and seriously go after this guy!! He has every reason to be impeached, and this war needs to end now.

Look, I put together some of the horrible things he’s done to the face of “democracy”.

* Stealing elections
* Ignoring intelligence alerts pre-911
* Lying to the public about WMDs
* start war in Afghanistan and Iraq
* creating history w/the worst deficit
* allowing torture
* No disaster response w/catastrophic Katrina
* Destroying environment at a record pace

Has he done anything positive? Bringing religion back into state? I mean it’s a joke. It’s like he’s destroying your home and you’re just watching it happen.

ごめんなさい、英語で。

FRIEND:I'm with you. It goes on and on and on.... Even the indictment doesn't seem to phase them. Out of the "know thy enemy" mindset, I think it's important to know the answers to the questions you posed, even if you asked them somewhat rhetorically. I would like to know what you think those answers are. This is what I (unfortunately) think they are:

MYCOMMENT: we're "too busy" with out personal lives!?

FRIEND: Yes. Out of ignorance and/or indifference. Also, I firmly believe that maintaining the American workforce's breakneck pace (that leaves the individual less leisure time than in any other major economy) serves corporate greed not only in the primary way, but also in the secondary, and perhaps ultimately more important, way: It leaves many people--particularly the less-educated who have harder, longer jobs--so completely overworked that they don't even have time to eat or sleep properly, let alone do anything for social justice (I would point out that they, too, need help from the rest of us).

ME:The middle class, being relatively satisfied economically (though this is slowly changing), may prefer not to uprise as they may be afraid to lose their stability. Or they may just be a little too comfortable and prefer to maintain their stability. The working class as you say, may be too overworked to be involved.

I think this has always been the tactic for our type of administration so we will keep quiet and let the top 5% of the wealthy Americans lead the country.

MY COMMENT: I swear, people just don't seem to care that much.

FRIEND:They don't care because it doesn't look too bad. They don't see the gruesome pictures. Everyone knows that those pictures changed the public perception of Vietnam, but I'm aware of more well-known pictures from Vietnam-era atrocities than from the war in Iraq...

ME:Why are people just believing everything on the news? I don’t understand why people seem to gullible. Just because the news don’t show horrible pictures of the war in Iraq or talk about the horrible experiences our troops went through, doesn’t mean the war is clean. I go online *looking* for photos from the war and stories in the trenches that may be gruesome. I try to do that because I know in any kind of war there are some horrible atrocities taking place and I want to know about it. I want to know what we’re dealing with. Iraqis and Americans Sunis and Shiites they’re all our people, all my brothers and sisters and fathers, mothers, daughters, sons, etc. etc.

MYCOMMENT: Does it have to take a draft for people to start taking a stand?

FRIEND:A draft would do the trick. So would 10,000 dead. So...8 more years?

ME:It seems like unless there is *immediate* threat to our lives people will not get out of their couches?

MYCOMMENT:Unless *we* stand up for ourselves, the administration will not end the war. If this war continues to be "profitable" in the administration's standards, it will go on until eternity.

FRIEND:I honestly am not sure that it's even profitable anymore. Maybe to them it's just the better of two evils--the worse evil being admitting defeat not only in Iraq, but to the left wing.

ME:I guess I meant “profitable” not too much in an economic sense. Sorry that wasn’t too clear. If continuing the war is advangageous to the administration in whatever they’re trying to accomplish, then they will keep it going at all costs. Also the administration is in serious denial - this war is bringing out the worst in Iraq. The Iraq voting is a joke. Using democracy and freedom as slogans for getting American support is dirty and morally wrong.

MYCOMMENT: Why aren't people interested!? Is Iraq too far and foreign to them?

FRIEND:Yes, it is. And they also don't know what's going on there.

ME:This is typical in America – people outside of America are just not worth thinking about.. Unless they are profitable in some way!

Oh and English is the only language that people need to learn. Right?

MYCOMMENT:Don't people realize that we are all one "nation"?

FRIEND:No, they don't. Only evangelist Christians are in the "one nation.......under God......"

ME:Right – and I really dislike “nationalistic” sentiments to begin with. I think it’s dangerous. “Our country is better than yours” is the dumbest mindset. I suppose it’s there to keep the citizens controlled.

MYCOMMENT:Has he done anything positive? Bringing religion back into state? I mean it's a joke. It's like he's destroying your home and you're just watching it happen.

FRIEND:In fact they have done such a good job at changing this country that I wonder now whether it's worth it to remain an American. I don't want my kid to grow up in this kind of ignorant, self-obsessed environment. On that 20/20 Evangelical special on TV the other night, they interviewed one mother whom they asked about her support of the Republican party and the Bush administration. Of course she is a party-line voter, but what she said, incomprehensibly, was, "I stay out of politics. I don't watch the news and I don't read the paper, because you know, my kids come first. It's all about my kids." What the hell is that??? What the f**k!!? How on earth can you possibly put your kids first by being so ignorant that you can't teach them a damned thing about this world that you supposedly think is God's wondrous creation? AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

ME:It’s sad because I like being an American and I want to have hope. It is embarassing to face other nationals. I wonder if there were any countries left we *haven’t* destroyed. The country is run by corporate greed and unless the corporations change their tactics (I think this may be the key to change also-corporate responsibility), this imperialist bullshit will continue. We have to remember, however, that America is a young country (not talking about pre-1492) and has a lot of ‘growing up’ to do. It is bound to make many mistakes, and thereby learn valuable lessons in imperialism that other countries may have already dealt with long before us. But the environment is being destroyed so fast the planet may not last..! So the country may not have the luxury to educate itself. Okay it’s hard to end this on a positive note because it only looks like we’re doomed. I wish there were more leaders like Chavez that would go hands–on to help the poor in our own country..
