Hello Everyone and nice to meet you. I'm sorry if you feel this is too low to discuss.
Yesterday, I read an article about a tour in Northen Territory, AUS. Tourists were taking breaks at a cafe at evening.
A girl asked a guide if they could swim in a lake near the cafe. In fact,m to swim in the lake was completely baned by government because there are a lot of crocodiles. However, the guide didn't have lisense to guide those areas, actually. Then, he allowed her to do that.
No doubt, she was devoured in the lake by one of the crocodles. After that, the guide shot one of them even though he was not sure which one ate her and they never attack people unless they go into the water.
When I finished reading, I said in the class that I was sorry for the crocodile and the girl, and felt guilty for the guide and the travel agency. All of the people in the class agreed, except one guy from Dubai.
This is exactly what he said, "I don't care about the crocodile, but sorry for the girl." We were shocked, and asked why. "because human beeings are in much higher level that crocodiles." "What!?" I couldnt belive that...
My teacher asked him if it's a religious belief. "Personal", said he. Although he said that, I think it's related to his religious or coutry background.
Even if he thinks fuman is higher than animals, in this case he should feel sorry for him ;_;)
I would feel sorry for the crocodile because his area was trespassed on and he was killed. Even though humans are on a "higher level" that animals be it on the evolutionary ladder or in regards to spirituality, they should still be treated with respect.

Exactly! The crocodile just ate his food which got into his habitat.
I was sad. Well, problem is they regarded that crocodile as just an enemy...
I don't know. You can feel sorry for the crocodile because all it did was what came naturally, but it's not as if we don't kill animals for lesser reasons. We kill 'em for skins, because there are too many of them, because they're in the wrong place, for sport, and so on. We humans kill a lot of animals, for lesser reasons. One can't really feel sorry for them all I suppose.
If the guide had not been a liar then the girl and the croc would still be alive. Should the guide be shot/punished ?
Anyone who kicks a dog unprovoked is scared or fearful of animals, and at worst, very cruel. To do it when you were not watching is also cowardly. Glad to hear you stopped talking to him.
I don't think all Muslims are cruel to animals.
Actually, they love animals.
Prophet Mohammad had tought people not to abuse domestic animals.
In the case of the student from Dubai, he thought one of the crocodiles must have been sacrified for an innocent girls life, I suppose.
However, not all muslims think the same way. It was his personal opinion as he said. I guess it's rather from middle eastern nomadic cultural background.
About dogs, Muslim people tend to hate them because they suppose animals are not clean.
If a muslem touched a dog, he has to wash himself properly before the player. It's their religious rule and custom.
They just dislike the idea to live with dogs.
But again, not all muslims will kick the dogs at their friends' house.
#11:
Someone who I used to be close with said the same exact thing about pigs ... he didn't eat pigs because they were not clean.
It's weird. Nothing is clean, but it's weird how certain animals are picked out. :P

"because human beeings are in much higher level that crocodiles."
That belief can happen with anyone from anywhere ... people who believe or don't believe. I know that some Christians think they're better because "God put them on Earth in his figure" or whatnot. Atheists could believe they're better because of natural selection. Then you could put this kind of thinking with other religions.
It's a weird thing. Poor croc!
I think your question is rather silly, no offence. But, I guess the Japanese are fairly rational people and foreigners tend to have a bunch of weird religions which they cannot agree on and seem to make wars about them. Put it this way, religion is weird to me and I had to suffer in church a lot when I was a child. I'm agnostic, which means if there is a God, I hope it likes me, otherwise I don't think about religion.
But, asking if something is religious is fairly silly because most religious people cannot agree on their own religions. For instance, at the start of Christianity there was a big debate about just what Christianity was, what Jesus said and so forth and so on.
And, once everyone had decided religion was *this way* or *that way* and made up all the rules, a short while later a new group formed and they argued, for instance in Islam you get Shia and Sunni Muslims. In Christianity the main branches are Protestant and Catholic, Read up on Martin Luther for more information about that. Then you get other funny religions like Gnosticism that believe Jesus was some kind of savour like the Christians, but, in a different way and that the "God" that people worship isn't God but an evil being. But, on the other hand, there are *OTHER* Gnostic religions that think a guy in the bible named John the Baptist.
And Christianity is mostly based on Judaism in a way, but they disagreed with the Jewish people and formed Christianity. Now the Jewish people started religions like Kaballah and in America there is a new organisation called 'Jews for Jesus', which keep some Jewish stuff and add new things onto the religion.
Buddhism split into Thervada and Mahayana (And Vajrayana?). Buddha also said there shouldn't be statues of him made, he explicitly said this. Seen a Buddhist statue lately? I've seen a lot of Buddha statues in my home country, let alone Japan.
So, An individual person may claim that they act a certain way, or think a certain way because they believe it is part of their religion, but I can promise you that a good deal of the people adhering to the same religious beliefs are going to disagree with them.
Any person who claims they believe something because of a religion is usually trying to justify a personal decision they made themselves.
Oh, sorry, PS. Muslim people believe dogs are 'unclean', except for some tribes in Saudi Arabia which believe Saluki dogs are ok to sleep with them in their tents in the desert. That is why that person kicked your dog (this is in response to a user here), he believes the dog will make him dirty and was probably insulted by your dog being in the same room as him, which may seem weird, but, that is how culture works. But as I just said, some Muslims think Saluki dogs are ok.
