Here is a truly rare find: a near mint Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone. #153121 (1968). American engraved. As you can see in the photos, the sax is pretty breathtaking. Original lacquer is 98-99% intact quite possibly could be the most perfect Mark VI tenor we've ever seen, it looks just a step or two under like it did the day it came out of the factory, nearly perfect save for a few blemishes here and there. There are no dents or dings, no previous repairs or damages, including no resoldered joints. The original neck shows no wear and has never been damaged. Quite a good find. We bought this sax from the son of an individual who himself bought it brand new in ’68, but played it only a very little, at the beginning right after purchase, then put it aside over the years. Thus it has very low mileage on it. Never the less we decided to put all new pads into it; Selmer with the original vinyl resonators. This was done by a master repairman with over 40 years of experience. There are very few spots of wear on this sax. You can see a couple of spots above the bell clasp, as well as some rust spots around the bow guard and on a few of the keys (like the G and the G# keys); this could have been due to dampness from a long period of sitting. Physical beauty aside, you want a tenor that plays too, and this horn certainly fits the bill. It has a warm slightly focused sound, one that cuts easily through a loud room. It projects great, really takes your air easily and gives you back a wall of sound.
