ADVANCED ENGLISH LESSON #4 (From "BINGO! Magazine [Volume #5 September 2006]") ********************************** X: I'm so excited about the Toronto Film Festival.
Sarah: I know what you mean. I am A MOVIE BUFF and really enjoy these types of festivals.
Tom: What I really like about the film festival is that there are so many films that PUSH THE ENVELOPE.
Sarah: Exactly! I am tired of the Hollywood BLOCKBUSTER FILMS which have no substance. I want something ARTSY and the film festival DELIVERS.
Tom: This is also one of the most famous festivals. People COME FROM FAR AND WIDE to watch these films.
Sarah: They also come to see the STARS OF TINSEL TOWN. The stars are always here during the Toronto Film Festival.
Tom: So how many films will you be able to see this year?
Sarah: I want to see as many as possible. I can't wait to buy my tickets, get some popcorn, and enjoy the films. I know I will be GLUED TO MY SEAT in the movie theatre. Hopefully, I will be able to GIVE TWO THUMBS UP to all the movies I see! ********************************** A MOVIE BUFF=映画ファン PUSH THE ENVELOPE=もっと高いレベルを求める BLOCKBUSTER FILMS=大ヒット映画 ARTSY=芸術的な DELIVERS=満足させてくれる COME FROM FAR AND WIDE=広く方々を旅行する、あらゆる所から STARS OF TINSEL TOWN=金ピカの町からのセレブリティ GLUED TO MY SEAT=画面(いす・席)にくぎ付けになる GIVE TWO THUMBS UP=最高である・上出来である ********************************** サラー:トロント映画祭、すっごい楽しみだな。
Sadly, I didn't get a chance to go to the Film Festival.
The time wasn't very convenient for me. It was quite expensive too. I think about $45 for a 3-movie pass. Maybe some people would disagree on it being expensive, I would also have to take a train to Toronto from my house, costing about $15.
I'm also not a 'movie person.' The people in this article are too excitied.
